Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Boozer

I just wanted to thank you for finding me a wonderful dog. Boozer is a great dog, very friendly and loveable. He got his shots and tags last week and I will be mailing a copy out shortly. If his previous owner inquires just let him know he is doing great! Thank you, Angie

Buddy the Water Spaniel
Buddy the Water Spaniel

Hi! I finally got some pictures made of Buddy, the Water Spaniel --now affectionately called Dexter, the Christmas Wonder Dog! Dexter is doing wonderfully. He is learning to stay at the door (after a few sneaky escapes!) He loves the freedom of the back yard and spends many a happy moment tormenting the squirrels. He has next door neighbor friend, Charley, a rompy black lab and loves going for daily walks (because we both need to loose a few pounds!) He enjoys being spoiled with toys, his own bed, and an ample supply of wholesome treats "Daddy" keeps sneaking him! Another reason for the daily walks!! We hope all have a wonderful and blessed Christmas. Please forward this to any and all you think would like a looksy. Blessings, Dudley, Melody, Chris, Stephen, and Nina W.

Brandon
Brandon

Hey Guys! We wanted to write to you to let you know how "Brandon" is doing. First of all, since we live in Brandon, FL we decided that calling him Brandon might be a little confusing at times so....we decided to call him something more simple. So we call him "B". We were going to call him Big Easy (after our favorite city - New Orleans) but were worried that might be a little overwhelming for him so "B" seemed like a simple and easy solution. It didn't take him long to learn his name. On the way home from Orlando - "B" went to the floor board and stayed there all the way home! After arriving home he tried to hide under our dining room table. However, since I was ready for a nap, I scooped his little self up and plunked him on our bed. We snoozed and snoozed! He was still a little timid but he was in "cuddle mode" by the end of our siesta! I figured that "B" wouldn't eat for 3 days after we first adopted him due to stress, change of location and being scared. However, after a day he had himself 3 peanut butter treats and 2 greenies! He is a sucker for those greenies! Also, "B" has the cutest underbite that makes his bottom lip stick out a little. You can really see it in one of the pictures below. Well, since we took the nap together the first day he arrived - "B" has decided that he is most comfortable lounging right in the middle of our bed and sleeps right in the middle of the bed with my husband and I. On October 31st I had to undergo surgery and then ACL knee reconstruction surgery on November 28th. "B" has been right by my side throughout my entire recovery and is super attached to his mommie. He is a real cuddler and has been so much company for me during this rough couple of months. "B" is still learning that it is OK to hang out with people and relax. When getting used to a new friend visiting we give them a pupperoni to sort of "bribe" him with. After a couple of treats - he has made a friend for life. He loves being outside and has been really great about not trying to get under the fence. In fact, we do not have to worry at all about "B" trying to run away or leave the yard. However, He always has to know just exactly where his mom and dad are while he is outside and "checks in" with us often. He also loves to watch our koi fish swimming around in our pond. He made a couple of attempts to swim with the fishes....but we were able to easily train him to stay out of the pond. Since he seems to like the water, he has been no problem to bathe. In fact, he seems to enjoy it. Riding in the car is still a little stressful for him but we did take him away with us to a pet friendly cottage for Thanksgiving weekend. He LOVED sitting out on the dock and sniffing the air while we fished and adjusted to his surroundings quicker than I ever could have imagined. "B" is super smart and a very special boy. Both my husband and I and all of our friends notice little improvements in his social skills on almost a daily basis. We are so happy to have him as a member of our family!!!! here are a couple of pictures for you to enjoy. ~ Troy N.

Buster and Roxy ~ DECLAWED
Buster and Roxy ~ DECLAWED

I just wanted to let you know how the cats are doing. They are adjusting very nicely and love my screened in porch. There has been no bad behavior, and only one hairball. Buster blends in well with my orange furniture and his personality has really emerged. He likes to jump on the bed with me at night and "make muffins." Roxy is demure and a great hunter. She has killed the few bugs and lizards she has found around the house, even those that are 4 feet off the ground and against the wall - she's a great jumper. They are really settling in as a part of the family. Thank you, ~ Bronwen W.

Buddy
Buddy

I know it sounds cliche but Buddy really is the greatest dog ever. He is really smart and he loves everyone, and everyone loves him (even my grandfather who is a retired mail carrier). We walk at least twice a day around my neighborhood and in the evenings he sits and watches T.V. with me. He especially loves watching The Dog Whisperer. He gave swimming a try last weekend, he did ok but still needs some practice. He got along great with my Dads little dogs. I'm hopping to introduce him to my Moms Rottie soon. He even gets along with strange dogs we meet out on walks. Buddy loves to curl up under the covers on my bed when we lay down to go to sleep . He has quit pulling on his leash when I take him out and learned how to walk correctly on our walks. He has also learned to wait for whomever is taking him for a walk, to exit the door before he runs out. He has picked up on just about everything I have tried to teach him. We still need to get consistent on the "come" command but that will come in time. I am happy to report that his hair seems to be getting fuller in his burn areas. I really do appreciate you helping me adopt Buddy. Thank you. I'll try to write to you from time to time with news and updates on Buddy.
