Foster Update (6/15/13):

Desmond is certainly a uniquely awesome cat! His coat has the most distinctive patterns and markings, including color patches, tabby stripes and spots. He also has a truly lovable personality to match. Naturally curious, Desmond loves to explore everything in the house. At the same time, he’s one of the most laid-back cats I’ve ever met – almost nothing fazes him! He’s the only cat I’ve known (so far) who isn’t afraid of the vacuum cleaner. While all the other cats run and hide, Desmond strolls right up and watches while I vacuum. He even follows it around at times.

Desmond (a.k.a. Desi) is great with our dog and absolutely loves the other cats, including his sister Vivian. He developed a rather ingenious habit early on of rubbing his head under each of the other cats’ chins so they would groom him. He’s now gotten EVERY cat in the house trained! He just strolls over, flops down by their head, and they go to work to make sure he stays handsome. Desi also loves human attention. He’ll follow you around and if you're behind a closed door, he'll meow until you let him in. He’ll also stretch out on your bed or curl up next to you. Desmond will graciously allow you to pick him up and smother him with kisses for a short time. He’ll meow to let you know when he’s ready to get down.

While Desmond doesn’t seem afraid of much, he has gotten stressed in unfamiliar environments, including adoption events at Oviedo Mall. We stopped bringing him to Oviedo for a while. Now we’re giving it another go to see if there’s improvement. We are flexible on scheduling meets in a less stressful environment if needed.

Desmond is deeply bonded to his sister Vivian. They’ve been together since birth. They love to play together, groom each other, and when they’re tired, they curl up together and go to sleep. Unlike his sister who's a bit more independent, Desi is definitely a cat who requires companionship. He would not do well as the only cat. Because of his bond to his sister, it would be ideal for them to be adopted together. Desmond is a fabulous cat who will make a wonderful addition to any home.

Captain Hook and his 5 littermates were born to a stray mama cat who took very good care of them. He is looking for his new furever home.
