Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Jasper the Cavalier
Jasper the Cavalier

Dear Judy, We are doing great! Jasper was an angel on the car ride home. He slept on my lap for most of the way, and then when we stopped for a potty break and gas, he played with toys on his bed in the back seat. When he got to our house, he walked into a life of luxury. He took over Moxie's play bed in the living room that had toys all around it and in it. He found all of the bones, both edible and chew toys, and has been having a field day with those. He had fresh chicken mixed in with the dog food that you gave us. We took a million pictures so far, so we will send you some in a couple of days. On the way home, we stopped by Petco and bought a nice crate, greenies, and some new toys for both Jasper and Gator (our Japanese Chin). He was an angel, just like I told you he would be, and slept through the night in his crate with a nice cushiony homemade quilt inside and was right next to us in our bedroom. He has not had a potty accident yet and goes every time we take him out. We are also teaching him to use the doggy door. Jasper is an angel, too good to be true! Thank you so much for allowing us to adopt him. He is just perfect for us! As I type this, Jasper is chewing on a bone in our bed right next to me. He thinks that he died and went to Heaven! What a joy he is! (We renamed him Barkley, by the way.) You can post this message on your website if you want to tell others that you can get great doggies at a rescue and give a bundle of joy a loving home. I will keep you posted! ~ Doris L.

Jiffy the Puppy
Jiffy the Puppy

Hi Janie, Jiffy did GREAT last night. She slept in her crate all night long and only whined for about 10 minutes. She seems really, really happy. She is such a good puppy and I know it is because of her foster mom. She already knows how to sit and has not even made a mess in the house yet. She knows what door to go to get outside already. We went to Petco on the way home so I could pick up the same kind of food she's been eating. Oh and she was SO GOOD in the car. She just sat in the front seat all the way home. We are so incredibly happy with her and now I know for sure that what happened with Maxi was what led us to the right pet for us! I met Judy last night and we were talking and I told her that Marty is a musician. She was asking about the band and wanted to know if they might be interested in playing at one of their benefits. I know they would do it and they have a rather large following in Volusia County. Judy asked for a card, but I was completely out of them so I told her I would e-mail her the band's website today. I guess I should just e-mail it to the "info" e-mail address. Thank you so much again for everything you did to help us get Jiffy. She is an amazing little girl and we are having so much fun with her. If you speak to the foster mom, would you PLEASE thank her for us. She did a terrific job with her and we so appreciate that. ~ Mary

Jimmy Johnson the Rhodesian Ridgeback
Jimmy Johnson the Rhodesian Ridgeback

Hi Jessica Jimmy Johnson (now Luke) is doing fantastic. He is such a great addition to our family and has been getting tons of love. He had a little adjustment getting used to all of us- particularly the men in the house. He is very playful and friendly with other dogs but people are another story. We try to keep him out and around unfamiliar situations and I have seen progress in him. I've attached a couple of photos for you to see. Happy Holidays to you and all the Pet Rescue by Judy associates. The Impellitiers Chris~Jackie~Logan & Luke

Joe Joe the Loved
Joe Joe the Loved

Joe joe is a basset-hound/beagle mix. I've had him for a few years and acquired him January 16. I know he is around eight years old and I have officially made his birthday January 16. I don't know much about his past other than that he came from a shelter in South Florida to a rescue in Orlando (central Florida) and from there my neighbor adopted him and because she couldn't care for him, I got him. First, however, I had to convince my dad that I was responsible enough for a dog. Everyday for almost four months or more I walked him for about an hour. Eventually my dad gave in, and Joe became mine. When I got him he knew NOTHING about the terms sit, stay.. or anything really. But he could dig a deep hole and destroy any pair of shoes. Now he's a well disciplined dog, he heels, sits, lays down and stays effortlessly. However, he doesn't get along with some dogs due to some bad run ins when my neighbor owned him. He was attacked by her dogs constantly and therefore he was forced to live outside. The lady never even gave him a bath... I had to. He's mellow with anything but some dogs, he is best friends with my neighbor's pointer mix Eddy. One time, while I was walking him up the street to my house, my neighbor's litter of kittens was outside and I decided to sit him down for a bit and see how the kitten's reacted. They arched their backs and I swear the dog raised a brow with an expression of "What's your problem?" He sniffed them briefly and I was grinning all the while. These little long haired kittens with their fur on end and resembling six small puff balls were glaring at a completely relaxed hound dog resting on his stomach watching them with an amused expression. It seriously made my day. I don't know what I would do without my crazy old hound dog! He's been through so much with me the past five years including family deaths and other rough patches. He's seriously my best and dearest friend on four legs. Thank you so much Judy, Joe's changed my life and found his forever home! ~ Andrea P.
