Jarvis is Electra's puppy, the only survivor of a litter of 6. We rescued him and his momma from a kill shelter in Georgia. We don't know why his littermates died before we got them, but by the time he came to us, Electra's milk had dried up. We have been bottle-feeding him since he was about 10 days old. What a sweetheart, what a trooper. I named him Jarvis after the secretary class High Endurance Coast Guard Cutter JARVIS. This little guy is a survivor and will be a narly fellow when he grows up! I thought we'd need someone to take over as his foster, but he's doing so well we're taking him with us to visit my folks in Miami. Their miniture French Poodle Pumpkin is going to be pretty traumatized when we show up with not only Jarvis, but our Ralph the Bassett/Lab and Gus the Bassett/Bulldog too. Pumpkin is quite the little sophisticated dog, sitting in the velvet chair during mealtimes (I kid you not!). Ralph and Gus, well, you kinda expect them to show up with a keg..... Anyway, they love Jarvis and we love them, so that is all that matters. And it will just give my folks one more thing to talk about after we leave.....sigh......

They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
