Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Bowser the Puppy
Bowser the Puppy

Just wanted to send you an update on Bowser/Dante. We love Dante! He couldn't be a better dog. Whoever is foster parents were did a great job training him or he's just a naturally good dog. Either way, we're very happy with him. He's pretty much fully potty trained (though he was well on his way when we got him). We've taken him to Winter Park Vet. Hospital for his regular shots and checkups and he's a healthy pup. We've enrolled him in dog training at our local Petsmart and he's the head of his class (or at least we like to think so). He loves Fleet Peeples Dog Park in Winter Park. He does very well with the other dogs and loves the water. He still sleeps alot and is doing so as I write you this email. We love him so much and just wanted to thank you and everyone at Judy's Pet Rescue. We only wish we could have adopted his brother and sisters. I've included some new pics of Dante in this email. Sincerely, Mark and Natalie

Bonnie Belle the Bird Strike Border Collie
Bonnie Belle the Bird Strike Border Collie

Hi Gisele ~ You lied! Bonnie has been nothing but a perfect angel since she's been here!!! She hasn't knocked over a single thing, barked or even look at the sky too much. She slept in her crate all night and only wimpered once right after she got into it and realized she had to spend the night there instead of in our bed (with her new master, Sean). I love your comparing him to the Farmer from "Babe..., that'll do pig." She did finally warmd up to me last night. She's still not to sure about the horses, but that will come in time. As I was walking her around the property last night, a plane flew over head and she looked up briefly, but I kept walking and she eventually went back to sniffing all of the crazy smells she can smell here. Oops, here she is now. WE LOVE HER! By the way, I love the video and I will get on Judy's website and fill out whatever I have to fill out. Thank you Giselle! We couldn't be happier. I'll keep you posted on our progress. Trish

Blarney the Yorkie
Blarney the Yorkie

Hi Everyone! My husband and I adopted the little Yorkie stray that you rescued and named, Blarney. Well, we've renamed him to "Phillie". Because I am so impressed with your organization and the excellent work that you do, I wanted to take the time to give you another "success story". Phillie is getting to know us and we (my husband and I) are likewise getting to know him. We just love him. His personality is becoming more evident each day. We are working on getting Phillie on a schedule for waking, eating, exercise and "bathroom" breaks. Phillie and I made a trip to see Dr. Willey at Tuskawilla Oaks. The purpose of our trip was to meet Dr. Willey, face-to-face and get his opinion on a few little things that I see with Phillie. Dr. Willey is happy that Phillie has a good and safe "forever home". It's unfortunate that we don't know how old he really is but we feel very happy to have Phillie living with us. Both of us have admitted tha we were still mourning the death of our 17 year old Westie, Shoey (he died 1/14/08!). I think Shoey would want us to move on and to love another dog that needs the same kind of love, attention and care that he received for 17 years. Thank you so very much for all the you did to help Phillie survive his misfortune of being a stray. I still can't imagine how anyone could let Phillie out of their sight to become a stray! Phillie's days of uncertainty are behind him and we look forward to many years of good health and love with our Phillie! ~Nancy F.

Brutus the MinPin
Brutus the MinPin

Hi Amanda! Just wanted to let you know how Brutus is getting along and feeling these days. He has been to the vet and has had a whole gambit of testing,x-rays, blood work, etc. He was wobbly about a week ago and I rushed him to the vet and they hooked him up to the Electrocardiogram and said he has a grade 3 murmur (which we knew). I thought I was going to lose him and it was unbearable, since I just got him to love. Anyway, he made it through the night and the vet said he had such Periodontal Disease that it was making his murmur worse; We decided to go ahead and start antibiotics and then remove only the very bad and unsavable teeth. The bad news is he lost seven, but the good news is that his murmur is now completely gone! He has another two weeks of antibiotics and a post-op check on 3/28, but is doing fabulously. The vet said he has the best blood work around=) He does have bilateral hip displasia and does wear a belly-band inside since he insists on marking everything(even when taken out every hour)! He's quite the little sprite and we love him so much, he's a true blessing. He also has a congenital condition in his left eye that is actually eating away his eye (some type of tumor)and he will eventually be totally blind since he does use what vision he has only in his left eye. We're still working on the video for you and our backyard will be fenced in within the next week or so and we'll be sure to include "Mr. Houdini" out and about sleeping in the grass=) Thanks again for all you do and for allowing us to adopt Brutus- he's the best! Love, Kelly & Family

Bianca the Librarian
Bianca the Librarian

I met Bianca out at the East Colonial Petsmart in January of 2008. At that time, she was an 11 month old kitten, shy as could be, who preferred hiding in your lap or in her crate to playing. The word was she'd been a really difficult cat to acclimate to indoor life. She'd been found outside the library in Lake Mary, but even after several months, still didn't trust easily and had given a couple of fosters a pretty hard time. But something about the way she looked at me made me wonder if there wasn't more to her than that. I waited three weeks to see if she would get adopted. When she didn't, I asked if I could bring her home. What a difference location can make. The moment she got out of the carrier in my living room, she completely transformed. Gone was the timid, mistrustful little girl. In her place was a sassy, chatty, purring machine who charmed her way into the heart of my resident "mama's boy" and myself in a matter of hours. It was like this was the opportunity she'd been waiting for and she wasn't about to let it go. She was going to be the best darn house cat she could be! Needless to say, she never went back to Petsmart. I wound up adopting her a week later, much to the delight of her now-big-brother Indigo. The two of them play CONSTANTLY. I worried at first, because Indigo outweighs her by a good 6 lbs., but she's a tough cookie. She can give as good as she gets! She has also helped with her big brother's separation anxiety. Indigo was abandoned, and has a bad habit of throwing up all over the house when I'm gone for more than a couple of days (even with a catsitter to take care of him.) This Christmas was the first time in 6 years Indigo didn't stress himself out to the point of illness, and I think part of the reason was having a companion around to keep company. The attached picture of the two of them was taken on Thanksgiving. They were having a rare quiet moment lounging in a sunbeam, so I just had to get that on film and share. The solo picture was her in the window of my old apartment, looking adorable, about 6 months ago. Happy one year "adoption-versary", Bianca! ~ April
