Lulu the Tortoiseshell's brother, George the Big Black Cat (adopted) can also be seen on our website.
Description:
Lulu is a lovely Tortoiseshell. If you aren't familiar with the term, a Tortoiseshell is a predominately black cat with swirls or patches of colors. They are always female.
Lulu and her brother George were rescued from the wild by a long time friend of Judy's. According to him, "She showed up about five days after George in the same area. We heard her then coaxed her out of the woods with food. Lulu is a little more cautious than George and not as fond of being picked up. She does however love attention and to have her belly rubbed. She has a smaller frame than George and appeared to be more deprived of food. We've fattened her up now and she loves to eat as much as George. My guess is that the two of them and perhaps siblings were dumped by the roadside in a non residential area behind us. They have obviously been handled by people and aren't afraid. They are a little more skeptical of other animals but tend to warm up to them after some time."
9/23~ Volunteer Update:
I had Lulu out at Oviedo this past weekend. What a sweet girl. So petite! She's long and lanky with the most beautiful markings. She was also quite calm around our other residents. The kittens didn't seem to bother her at all, and she and Juliet were perfectly content to ignore each other. I would love to see her in a good home soon. I think she would just blossom into a love machine given half a chance!
10/22 Foster Update:
Lulu is such a sweet, affectionate cat. I had the pleasure of briefly fostering her and I can tell she will make an amazing pet. She was a little bit shy at first with her new surroundings, but that is of course very understanding. It didn't take her long though to claim a spot on the bed right next to me and curl up. Every now and then she would wake up and come over and love on me, then go back to "her side" and curl up again. At night, she slept at my feet. She was a little jumpy to new noises/movements, but again, this is very understanding, and when she gets used to them, then she's fine. For example, when I turned on the TV, the clicking noise it makes when it first turns on made her jump; also, when she was sleeping at my feet and I went to turn over, she jumped. She's very calm so she'd be great with a low-key family, but she does have a playful side too (she loved my cats' toys). She didn't seem to enjoy being held, but she did tolerate it, so she is very easy to handle. She was also very good around my two cats; she really didn't take any interest in them at all.
This little girl has no desire for adventure in her life. A nice safe loving home is all she wants. How about yours?
