Rain is the alpha dog of his litter, and is always the first to try, explore, and learn new things to show his brothers. He is a smart, bright, and attentive boy who has never met a toy or treat he didn’t like! Although he doesn't cuddle, he is an affectionate boy who prefers to sit up on the couch or in your bed with you. He loves to play and run- especially outside in the sunshine. He loves other animals, but can be shy and cautious around new kids and adults, choosing to hang back and wait for your direction. 

 

He is adaptable in many situations- remaining happy and playful. He would do well as the only dog of his family, but would also enjoy another playmate in his house.

 

Rain is a gentle, sweet and playful puppy who will become a loyal, well-behaved member of his deserving, active family. He should be easy to train, and is already paper and crate-trained. He also likes to splash around in the baby pool, indicating that he is probably a future swimmer! He will grow to be a large, active dog who will need an active family to play with that will enjoy showering him with all the love and attention he deserves.

 

HISTORY: A brave little survivor, Rain and his brothers and sister were found on the streets by a wonderful man who turned them into animal control. Oddly enough a black Lab mix that appeared to have recently had pups was picked up two days earlier. She had been hit and killed by a car. The pups were found not far from where the Lab mom was, so we can only assume she was their mom. And now, they are in wonderful foster homes being bottle fed and learning all of the basics to being a puppy.

Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
