Stormy is a tall, dark and handsome little man with a very sweet disposition. He can be silly and playful, and at other times is intense and observant. He often uses caution when approaching new people, and prefers to hang back with you and wait for direction. However, once he bonds with you, he's yours forever.
Stormy is a beautiful, strong and easy puppy with a happy little tail that curls up over his back, and front legs that look like he’s wearing big white socks. He loves to play with his brothers and with toys, and also spends lots of time chewing on his bone.
He likes to be carried, but also loves to bounce around through the grass chasing after you. He won't go exploring too far away from you, and while playing will often run back to you to give you a quick kiss before returning to his friends. He also likes the water and should grow to become a good swimmer.
Stormy can be independent but loves attention and is wonderful and gentle with children. However, his family needs to use caution during play because he is strong and might bite when over-excited while he’s still little and untrained. He will be a great, protective and loving dog for his lucky family.
With patience and consistency, smart little Stormy should be an obedient, well-behaved dog. He will grow to be a large dog with great muscle definition, so he needs a family that will make sure he is fully trained and obedient, and that he is given lots of healthy exercise every day. He would do well as the only dog of his family, but would also enjoy another playmate in his house. While you may catch him watching tv from time to time, Stormy is happiest running around outside in the sunshine with you.
HISTORY: Storm and his siblings were found on the streets by a wonderful man who turned them into animal control. Oddly enough, the body of a black Lab mix that appeared to have recently had pups was picked up two days earlier. She had been hit and killed by a car. The pups were found not far from where the Lab mom was, so we can only assume she was their mom. Now they are in wonderful foster homes being bottle fed and learning all of the basics to being a puppy.
BREED INFORMATION: *** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
