Sinatra is one of a litter of puppies born at the end of January. Their momma, Gisele, was left pregnant, abandoned in a yard, when her owner moved. Fortunately someone brought her to the Bervard Shelter where she gave birth to seven puppies on January 26, four girls, three boys, all as cute as pie!
Sinatra was named in honor of her dreamy blue eyes. And she is quite the heartbreaker as well. This is how her foster describes her: They don't come any sweeter. She has taken to Mylo (my foster failure) and he to her since she was a wee 2.4# at 2 weeks. As she has grown he has taught her to play and yes go potty outside. She has a few accidents here and there mostly at night but for the most part she is already housebroken. Funny and playful she will make a terrific pet for a family with children and another dog. She loves the companionship of her buddy Mylo. The two are nearly inseparable.
We expect this litter of puppies to be ready for adoption around the end of March, early April. We will switch their status to Available for Adoption one week before their scheduled surgery. At that point, if you are interested in adding one to your family, you may submit an application. Please do not do so prior to their availablitly ~ we do not adopt on a first come, first serve basis, but strictly on finding the right home for the right pet.
*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
