Sweet Brutus! This little MinPin is looking for a new home at this late stage of his life through no fault of his own. He was rescued off the street by a sweet woman who is now losing her home. She has asked Judy to find loving families for her four little dogs. She provided us with wonderful information on Brutus. Let me share:

"Brutus was brought to me by some neighborhood kids who find him wandering around and thought he might be one of mine (my neighbors know I have a house full). I attempted to find his owner by putting an ad in the paper and on PetFinders but with no luck.

I've had Brutus (my name for him) for over a week. He is mostly blind. I do believe he has some sight. He has horrible teeth (common is small dogs). He is an inspiration. He is completely house broken and I crate him at night, for his protection, with no problems. At first, he wandered around the house very little and when lost would bark until I went to him and picked him up. I'd put him on the couch and he'd stay there sleeping or standing up 'til I returned. Now he gets up and down on the couch on his own, goes where he wants and finds his way outside (with an open door). He still occasionally falls into the water bowl.

He loves kisses and hugs. He still barks occasionally when he needs your help and when I approach him, I let him sniff me, then he hops (sometimes when I'm not quite ready) to HELP you pick him up.

He gets along with other dogs, but occasionally will snap at them when they startle him. No biting however. I've noticed an occasional cough that concerns me. Bottoom line is he does not let his blindness stop him and he is a great Min Pin."

Wow! Is that not an awsome description! Really, this dear woman has really gone above and beyond the call to help us understand Brutus and find him a wonderful home. I know why she came to Judy ~ the truth is, virtually any kill shelter would euthanize Brutus right away because of his age and vision impairment. With limited space, those are the decisions that shelters are forced to make. Judy is committed to never euthannizing an adoptable pet, even if it takes years (Olive Oil was adopted this week after waiting 3 years!). I hope that you will consider Brutus for you home. If you have ever been around a vision-impaired dog, you know how sweet and grateful they are. They quickly learn their way around so well that often visitors won't realize they are blind (please don't move the couch too often!). And so far as age, at ten years old Brutus probably has many years ahead of him. We have qualified him for our Seniors for Seniors program ~ if adopted by a senior citizen, his adoption fee will be reduced to just $50.

Foster update 1/30: well i guess i have turned into the foster mom whom fosters senior dog whom are going blind! I just had to take home Brutus..he is so sweet and loving! He rode wonderfully in the car, sits very nicely on your lap and loves to be held. He can find his way around the home without bumping into anything and only occationally trips on something. He has reacted well too all my dogs and my 2 cats. He is such a sweet dog. He has a bit of hair loss on his back but with some TLC i'm sure it will grow back!

Foster update 2/1: Well Brutus is such a great dog. We went to the dog park today and he just loved walking around enjoying all the smells! He interacted with anything from a great dane to and shih tzu and was 100% sweet with all of them! He is a very hardy senior dog and is completely comfortable by him self but i can see really enjoys to be cuddled! After our long time to the dog park me and Brutus took a nap on the sofa. He loves to pressing up against you completely covered by the covers. He is still on the sofa sleeping right now! lol! This dog is so wonderful and i'm sure would make anyone a wonderful pet! he is completely housebroken but he did mark my house a couple of times the first night he was with me. He has not done this since.

Foster update 2/4: Well I guess Brutus has been hang out with Italian Greyhounds too much! If i d
