Dina the Little Shepherd Girl
I am Chris roomate ( Dina's owner) and Dinas's babysitter when Chris is at work. I wanna drop you a line with Dina's progress.
She is such a shy but sweet dog. We had her now for 5 days and everyday she learns to trust a little bit more. It will take time and patience but we love her.
The first couple of days were terrible, she wouldnt eat and then she got loose of her leash and went under a huge bush in my yard for about 14 hours. It took our neighbors help to get her out of the bush.
For the past 3 days, she has been eating and learn quickly were her bowl and water is. she is a very smart dog.
She loves to sleep in the bed with me, and wakes me up in the middle of the night to play.
We go for rides in the car and she loves it, also we excersice a mile everyday, something I also needed but havent done in 10 years....this dog is a God send.
Dena is very skittish around people and even us, but for the past 3 days she had decide to follow me around from a distance.....no matter which room in the house I am, she will show up and lay quietly by my side.....she is so sweet.
he also loves treats, and will do anything for one. Yesterday I took her to my vet for a general check up, and she had to get a couple of sutures from her spaying redone but other than that she is very healthy.
I love this dog, and I know it is gonna take a lot of time and love to get her back to the social and happy dog she should have been sometime ago.
I want to thank pet rescue by judy for bringing such a joy into my house and be assure Deena will have all the love, training and attention necessary for years to come.
Here goes a picture of her, however she is so shy it is almost impossible to get her to stay for a photo session.
Greetings and thanks again,
Lourdes and Chris 10/6: Well, it's been a month - this dog has become the most important thing in my life.
My significant other is her playmate. She loves to play tug with her rope toy.
She follows me everywhere I go in the house. She seems to have an issue with bathrooms and sheds. I suspect she was locked up in one or both. Regardless, we move forward. I don't think she's going to be getting a bath here, we'll take her to the groomed, I'll be more comfortable with that.
She LOVES peanuts!! Unsalted shelled, those are her treats.
Deena has three places she loves to lay, the office, the living room and, of course, the bedroom. She has 2 x 4 rugs in these spaces so she is off the floor. In the bedroom she has her cozy bed for nights, but daytime she is on the bed!
We are sticking to our routine, I think she needs it and loves it. She knows what to expect from us and what we expect from her. I take her out on the leash in the morning, she has her places she likes. We still use the leash (even though we are fenced in) she gets spooked buy noises, if the well pump gets on while we are out, she freaks.
I do 30 minutes on the eliptical every night with music on, she lays on the living room rug and watches - no problem!
She has meant so much to me and I think she knows how much I love her! I can hardly wait to see how much more she grows in her trust of humans. All I really want or expect from her is that she is happy and I see a smile in a month or two. Almost thought I saw one today, but maybe not. I am very patient!
Almost forgot - the first few days she jumped in the bed, then when she got her own bed she didn't. The past two days when she wakes, she'll put her feet up on the bed and wait for an invitation. She's too sweet!
