Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Sadie the Lab
Sadie the Lab

Here is a recent photo of Sadie, adopted from PRBJ in November of 2006. She is now one and a half years old and is doing very well. She is by far the best dog I've ever owned! I passed your website address along to several friends and family members in hopes that they will all sign the petition for Extreme Makeover to build a new shelter for the animals. Keep up the good work Judy! You have the support of more people than you know! Sincerely, Rich C.

Shiloh
Shiloh

I just wanted to touch base with you on Shiloh. She is an amazing dog, and I think that when I got her home she realized this would be her home. She walked around and checked the place out and started acting like this has always been her home. She adapted really quick. As far as her with Ember, surprisingly the love one another. Ember greeted her when she came in, they played and ran around the house together. She adores Mike, and she listens to both of us really well, so far.... My husband had them on the bed with him playing and they just curled up together. Its like they are best buds, its truly amazing. But of course when it was time to actually go to bed that was another story. We put her in her cage with the new bed Mike got her, and covered it with a sheet. But as I am sure you know she starting whining and talking to us, I felt really bad and wanted her to feel like part of the family. So I let her out and had a bed for her next to me on the floor, she sat on it for a bit looking at me. Then she decided she wanted on the bed, so she jumps up and quickly lays down at the bottom of the bed by our feet. So my hubby and I decided to just let her stay there. Then I felt her creeping up towards me and planted herself right next to me and Ember, Ember got up and layed between Shiloh's legs and head, and that is how the night went. Apart from the fact that I woke up with Shiloh on her back and her legs up in the air in my face. So it looks like she will be sleeping with us and it looks like her and Ember will be great together. I have pictures that I took also and I will have to email you. But I really feel like Shiloh knows this will be her home. Thank you so much for such a wonderful animal. She is truly a blessing. We love her so much. Yours Truly, Rebecca & Mike

Sammantha the Brown Tabby
Sammantha the Brown Tabby

Thank you for your help! We got there on Saturday to meet Mushu only to fall for Samantha. Mushu was pretty, but when we went in the adoption room to meet the other kittens, something about Samantha spoke to us. Her quirky little personality was exactly what we were looking for as well as the fact that she is in a little more control of her claws. We have a 14 month old so that was a deciding factor. We adopted her that afternoon, and she is already fitting in great in our house. Attached is a picture of her hanging out on our couch! Thanks again, Leanne

Shenandoah
Shenandoah

I just wanted to take a moment to send you an update on our newly adopted Shenan (Shenandoah). This little lab mix has to be the sweetest doggie! She loves to be around all the girls in the family including our 4 year and 12 year old daughters. She is still adjusting to living with a big man like my husband, but with lots of consistency and patience she is starting to come around. There is one man she really likes and that is her new best friend Max, a Pyrenees/golden retriever mix. The 2 have done wonders for each other. They spent their first day together completely engaged in a day long play session! The 2 are the same age so it's a perfect match. Max has helped to set a good example for her when it comes to their daily walks and now she is a champ. With Shenan as skittish as she is with new noises and such we spent the first couple of weeks getting to know her and allowing her to explore our home. Now that she is falling in the routine of our lifestyle (or is it the other way around!) we have ventured out to visit the dog park! She loves to interact, play and run with all the dogs. We are so happy that we have been able to add her to our family. I have included some pictures of her taken at the dog park - she was digging in mud puddles with her best friend Max! Thanks for all you do! The Hartdegen family

Stevie
Stevie

Now that Frisco (youcalled him Stevie) has graduated his first class at Petsmart we plan on enrolling in the intermediate class. He either goes for a walk or runs next to the bike every night, he looks so forward to it and so do we. We had to leave town on vacation and we had him stay at Dog Day Afternoon because they have a webcam and we could look in on him. He kenneled very well and the employee's thought he was so cute they had him sleep up front with them a couple of the nights. He gets along with every dog we have come across but is still pretty shy with people and we are working on that. Frisco is a very smart and loving dog, thanks to you, Judy and her helpers. - Debbie S.
