Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Sawyer the Handsome declawed

Sawyer is just beautiful and loves laying on the kitchen floor napping as I make dinner. The whole family takes turns sitting with him on the couch and he has found a favorite spot in a basket in front of our fireplace on cold evenings. I met Judy at the Home Show last Sunday, It was good to meet her in person and tell her thank you.

Snoop Dog the Lemon Beagle
Snoop Dog the Lemon Beagle

Hi Janie, Just wanted to say thank you for your help. We met with Reed this morning and decided to adopt Snoop Dog (A.K.A. Snoopy, what else can you call a beagle). We stopped on the way home for a crate, bed, food, toys, and treats, Snoop was admired by a half dozen people in the Petsmart and he handled it quite well. We have him home. After reviewing his new quarters and the grounds, he decided to nap in the guest bedroom. I'm sure that we will have lots of new adventures in the coming weeks but the first day is going well. Please forward this message to Reed and thank her for fostering Snoopy and for the information she gave up. He is as advertised, and we look forward our new life together. Thanks Again Art

Savannah the DeClawed Sweetie

Hi Catherine, Savannah has been sneezing since I got her ... I took her to the vet on Monday and he didn't seem worried ... told me just to keep an eye on her and bring her back if she started with any discharge or stopped eating ... neither of which has happened and in fact, I think she might be sneezing less. She has settled right into the house ... of course she thinks I'm a rug and walks all over me at night ... grin ... Both she and my other cat will purr when they are with me ... so both seem to be happy with me. Their relationship is another thing though ... still have a lot of hissing and some growling and other loud noises. I haven't actually seen them fighting, but most of this week, Savannah has taken over the bedroom and Harley has taken over the living room. He's actually been mewing, which is something I've never heard him do before. They must be getting used to each other though as Savannah was out all over the living room this morning and as I left, they were less that a foot apart without hissing or growling ... hoping by the end of next week, they will be friends. Thanks. Peggy

Simba Smartest Cat Ever!

Catherine, Hello! They are doing quite well. I took them to the vet last week and they were in good condition! By the way, for your records, it turns out the vet I was thinking of was actually named Waterford Lakes Animal Hospital. The doctor who attended them was Dr. Erin Lindblad and you can call them at 407-382-3818 if you would like to. Simba had a bit of flea dirt on him but i assume that was from the shelter. I had to put topical flea treatment on both of the cats just in case. Boots was clean but otherwise seemed to develop a bit of a cold. The vet told me that sometimes happens to cats when they move to a new home, although I don't quite understand it, haha. I have been feeding them well, they have plenty of space, and although there was some hissing and batting at first, now they play fight and chase each other, which makes me happy. Let me know if you have any more questions! Take care, Andre

Stripey the Social Terrier

Hello. We are very happy with Striper (aka Stripey). He loves his new home and his large back yard to run and play. A brief story. Our beloved friend "Coach" went to doggy heaven after a bad medical diagnosis. He passed on Aug 17, 2012. He was 14. Striper was found by Terri the same day (August 17th 2012) He has demonstrated a lot of similar personality traits as "Coach" did. A wonderful addition to our family. He is almost like a tailor-made friend and we love him. Thank you Pet rescue by Judy, the staff of volunteers and the foster moms and dads.
