Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Shotgun the Redbone Coonhound
Shotgun the Redbone Coonhound

Hi Diane! Shotgun is awesome! He blends beautifully with our family. He was a little nervous the first evening and the next day but soon got comfortable and was playing with the other dogs. He learned the doggy door in a day. We have yet to hear him bark, though. He has some training to go through, as he is quite a runner! My other dogs stay with us when we walk the property, but Shotgun takes off in a flash. We thought about renaming him Gunner the Runner! So, for now he has to stay on the lead when we walk the property. Hopefully he will get past his urge to bolt. He has greeted everyone who comes to visit so graciously and politely. We are so glad to have him. He is an awesome dog. Thank you! Deana

Steve Rogers The Avengers Puppy

Hi, Just wanted to send an update on Steve who we renamed Cooper. We adopted him last May and he has gown up to be a very handsome boy. His temperament is amazing and is one of the sweetest dogs we've ever seen. Here is a picture of Cooper with his brother Zeke (who we also adopted from you over a year ago). Thank you so much for all you do and helping these wonderful dogs find their forever homes. You all are wonderful!! Noranne

Shelly the Loving Dachshund

Hi Diane It was nice to meet you and everybody else who is part of PRBJ. Shelly had a wander around the yard, and explored her new house and just settled straight in. She is eating well, she went to sleep without any problems, after trying a little big eyed whining to get up on our bed, she saw our other dog settle into her bed, and settled down into her own bed and there wasn't a peep out of her until this morning. She has spent the whole morning in and out of the house, tail wagging constantly. We did change her name to avoid confusion as our Maltese is Ellie so everytime we called Shelly, she thought we were calling her ! We have named her Betsy. It was love at first sight for my husband and I, and she seems happy here. I have booked an appointment with our vet tomorrow, so I can get her heartworm tablets and some advice on how much weight she needs to gain. She looks a little thin but I know you have to be careful with how much weight a dachshund gains, so want to be very careful about that. I have been taking photos and will keep you up to date on her progress. Thank you all for making it possible for us to find a new member of our family. Marion

Spike the Chinese Shar Pei Mix
Spike the Chinese Shar Pei Mix

Diane, thank you so much for making this process easy and exciting! I have you know, Spike is now the proud owner of myself and we are getting along great! The experience was rough and I almost couldnt do it at times, but there is  reason for everything. I didnt even bother looking at other dogs. I just didnt feel right. Once I did the meet and greet with Spike I knew he was the one! Thanks again Sonia and Spike!

Samantha the Tiny Chihuahua
Samantha the Tiny Chihuahua

Hi Diane, Ok, so another update in “Sammie”. I just checked in and currently they are all 3 sleeping in Justin’s apartment in the same bed together…Yeah! But last night…We had gone to dinner to celebrate birthdays for our daughter and hubby, we left our first 2 girls in the bath area behind the gate like usual and put Sammie in the hall bath with a gate, food, water , bed and crate if she desired….Came home at 9:30, she walked on the leash totally different from the other times, did her business, sat and danced for a treat, tail came up and was waggin! She has slept with Craig and I and so far so good. We just love her. I feel bad that I forgot the Foster moms name, but please give her our update too. Such big hearts you all have. Thanks again to everyone at PRBJ. We will share photos of another happy adoption. Lisa
