Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Oliver the Black Lab Pup
Oliver the Black Lab Pup

Hi Bobbie, I'm Olivia, the girl that adopted Oliver, the black lab puppy. He is such an awesome guy! He is such a sweetie! He likes to snuggle with me and he thinks he's a lap dog...he's a 38 pound lap dog. He is very friendly and loves people. He and our cat, Abby, are still in the process of feeling each other out, but it's coming along. He is doing great with his crate training. Scott and I got one of those Kong chew toy things. We put a bit of peanut butter in it and he really goes to town! He is a puppy and he Loves to chew on everything. He has already chewed through two big rawhide bones in a week! He has chewed a few things that he shouldn't have, but that is to be expected. If he is caught chewing something he shouldn't we tell him NO! But I make sure to go get his bone and praise him for chewing on what he should be. He is really smart and understands when he falters. I know he means no harm in anything he does. He's just a sweet little baby that needs some guidance and love! He gets LOTS of loving and exercise. He is so wonderful and I love him so much! Scott and I can't thank you enough! We have enrolled him in an obedience class that starts May 5th and is held once a week for 6 weeks at our local pet smart. He already knows the sit command and I know he is very intelligent. I have kept checking your web site to see if his brothers, Otto and Orion, have been adopted. I am so thrilled that Otto has a new home. I know Orion will soon find a home. I'm sure they are very similar in their personalities to Oliver...and he is just the cat's meow! Anyways, thank you so much for helping me find Oliver, he makes our family so much more complete! Keep up the great work! Sincerely, Olivia, Scott, Oliver, and Abby

Oscar the Puppy
Oscar the Puppy

This is a long overdue email, but I thought better later, than never. Oscar, who we have renamed Ozzy, is doing so amazing and we love him so much. He has brought so much happiness into our lives. We laugh everyday because of something silly that he has done. Ozzy loves going on long runs with us everyday and he really enjoys our visits to the beach and dog parks. He has grown to become 75 pounds and he still believes that he is a lap dog. Thank you for everything that you do. We have attached a picture. If you still have records from his foster parents, would you mind sending this along to them. I am sure that they would love to receive an update. Thanks so much. Thanks, Alison F. and Sean M.

Odin
Odin

Judy, Troy & I adopted Odin on 4/29/07. We renamed him Otis after my step-father who passed away in 1990. What a wonderful pet he has become. He is no longer toy aggressive. We were able to break that pattern of behavior in about 6 weeks, with constant work, patience, and love. As a matter of fact, I can put my face right down next to his when he has a ball or toy and he will lick my face and nudge the toy to me. He is also wonderful with children. He just loves them and loves to play with them. The kids across the street from us think he is something else. He never meets a stranger and is a true people dog!! He very quickly became a momma's boy. He loves Troy, but I am definitley his favorite. He sleeps curled up next to me. He is the best pet I have ever had. You can't imagine how much I love this little guy. ~ Rene

Oreo the Shepherd Puppy
Oreo the Shepherd Puppy

Hi Cathy, I wanted to update you on the puppy. He has gained 7 pounds!!! We went to the vet Tuesday where he received a clean bill of health. The vet thinks he may be around 100 pounds when full grown. He also commented on how smart the puupy seems, which I have noticed as well. Potty training is coming along nicely...his only accidents are in his crate overnight when I wait more than 4 hours to take him out. He has been coming to work with me each day. I work at a nonprofit crisis pregnancy center. He loves it! He is so calm and good-natured. I will try to send photos soon. Take care. Dana

Oshkosh the Puppy
Oshkosh the Puppy

Oshkosh has a new name; our family has named him Rhodie (Rhodesian ridgeback). Rhodie is doing well; we have had him as a member of our family for almost three weeks. He has been to the vet (Chickasaw Trails Animal Hospital) and other than a small case of worms has been deemed healthy. We are treating him for the worms and cleaning up the backyard on a regular basis so that the worms do not spread. Rhodie was sick last week, vomiting and diharea, but is better now. The vet could find nothing wrong so it most have been just one of those puppy things. He has his full energy and appetite back now and is quite the beast. He has a great personality and we all enjoy him.
