Special Needs: Odin needs an adult home that will train him to not be overly protective. He should not go to a home that has younger children living there or frequently visiting.

Isn't Odin the cutest little guy you've ever seen?!! He is a 15-pound pure-bred silky terrier. Only four years old, he loves to play and will go everywhere with you. When he sees his travel bag, he jumps right in and ducks his head so you can zip it up!!! He is crate trained but will happily sleep on the bed if invited. Like most terriers, Odin barks when something catches his eye (he seems to have a thing about birds....) so an apartment might not be the best environment. He likes dogs and cats. He'll sneak socks right off your feet if you let him! He loves to play with toys - balls, stuffed animals, plastic bottles - and will bring them to you to wrestle or throw for as long as you are up to it. And there is the rub - Odin can become overly possessive with a toy. That was the reason he was originally given up for adoption and then returned by his new family. For this reason, we are recommending that he go to a home without children younger than 10, preferably one with terrier experience, willing to work with him in overcoming this behavior.


Not familiar with silky terriers? Silkies were bred from a cross between Yorkshire terriers and Australian terriers. They have the soft hair of the Yorkie and the stockier build of the Aussie. Their hair can be allowed to grow long and does not shed (okay, all dogs shed, but not much). They are truly a "big dog in a small body."
