Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Jackpot the Puppy
Jackpot the Puppy

Judy - Just a quick update on Jasper. He now weighs 20 pounds (12 when he first came home) and loves to eat! His favorite treats are peanut butter cookies from Pookies Bow Wow Bakery, just shake the cookie jar and he comes running. The doctor said he looks great and is very healthy. His housebreaking is going very well too. He gets his rabies vaccination Jul 8th and then he'll be all done with his puppy shots! He gets along terrifically with his big sister Joba. We just love him so much, he is full of personality. ~Deborah B.

Jarvis the Puppy
Jarvis the Puppy

I began to foster Jarvis when he was just 10 days old, smaller than my hand. If you click on his name you can see photos of him in my husband's hand. I spent many nights up bottle feeding him, hoping that he would make it ~ all of his littermates had died. How happy I was when he was adopted by a friend of mine. She recently sent me a photo that I must share ~ my how he has grown! "When we first got Charlie Moe he was so tiny he could fit in my hand! We call him "the beast". He is very good and actually very quiet and calm. :) ~ Dyanne B."

Jewel
Jewel

Hi Miss Judy and PRBJ friends! It has been more than 2 years since I was matched with my Mommy and Daddy, and we are all very happy. The Lowenbergs are my second adopted family. My first family was nice, but there was a dog, other cats, and young children: I was very overwhelmed and scared by all the noise! But at my new home, there are no other pets or children. It is so very quiet and I love it. Mommy and Daddy call me “Jewel” now, which one of my foster-moms started calling me. Mommy says my name fits because I am “precious.” My favorite toy is the laser pointer—someday I’ll catch that red dot! I have a lovely screened porch and love to watch the backyard. And if things come in the screen, I POUNCE!! I am a mighty hunter, and have caught lizards, frogs, and even a snake once. Now if only I could get a yummy bird to come closer… Thank you Judy and friends, for finding me a forever home! Love, Jewel [as dictated to Kelly Lowenberg]

JJ the Cat-Loving Border Collie
JJ the Cat-Loving Border Collie

Hey Amanda! JJ is doing great! She has become more animated and her and Abbey are playing together. Abbey seems to be over her food issues with JJ and she has picked up on some of JJ's calmness. We used to always have to put Abbey on a yard leash in the back yard because she would run around the house to the front yard and go down the street. JJ listens very well and Abbey won't leave her so they both will stay in the yard and not wonder off. It's great! I go out back several times a day with them. JJ especially loves it. She just mostly sits at the base of our tree looking at our tree and our neighbor's. I think the squirrels like to tease her. It feels as if we have had her forever! I love her so much. She has become more attached to me, like Abbey, but she loves everyone. It's funny to see them competing for my attention. When I talk to one the other comes running, Abbey more so than JJ. Yesterday I was taking a nap and JJ had her head on my pillow and her nose on my forehead. I could feel her breath, it was sweet. So things are real good. Thanks for saving her. She is wonderful. Take care, Mary Ann

Jackson
Jackson

Dear Judy, My husband and I bumped into you this weekend at the Winter Park art festival and were talking to you about our dog Jackson that we adopted from you in January 2006. Jackson was a Hurricane Katrina Dog and came to us a little skinny and a little shy. Jackson's personality and wasteline have both grown over the last three years and he is the most loyal loving dog anyone could ever imagine. We brought Jackson home to be the little brother to our Great Dane Sydney. They got along great and were like old pals from the second they met. Sydney passed away last February and Jackson did a stint as an only doggie for a few months before we got him another little sister, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Isabelle. At only 16 weeks old Isabelle would bite at Jackson's legs, ears and whatever else she could get her puppy teeth on. Jackson, being the wonderful dog that he is, never even thought of growling or anyting at her. He is so well manored and such a pleasant dog. We love him so very much and he has added so much joy to our life. I've attached a picture of Jackson and one with his sisters. He's just the greatest dog ever. Thanks for bringing this great dog into our life! ~Melissa Campenni
