Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Amazing Vanessa the Trained Princess ~ VIDEO

Hi Bethany! Thanks for checking on us. We're doing well. Vanessa is either bursting with energy or passed out exhausted from playing with the kids. She's not much of a morning doggie but I tend to agree with her that we get up very early at our house. She usually gets out of bed, goes outside to potty then climbs back into her bed until the first round of school dropoffs is over. She's maintaining her training well, we go through all of her commands at least once a week. It's been a challenge for her to learn to stay out from under the table during dinner time. But, she's getting used to it and is now only taking one reminder to sit at the edge of the living room. Now, if I could just teach the littlest two not to feed her from the table it would really help ;). We honestly feel like we won the doggie lottery, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect pet for our family. The work you and the others at PRBJ do is truly awesome. I attached a silly picture of the some of the kids and Vanessa. It's the clearest one I've managed to get so far, they're all pretty wiggly. Heather

Almond Joy the Standard Dachshund
Almond Joy the Standard Dachshund

We picked this little girl up on super bowl Sunday January 2010. She came home and she was very timid and inched her way out of our room for the first few days. She finally felt secure in her new home her personality started to shine. She is very inquisitive and when we got her she was already house trained and knew all the basic tricks. She fits right in with our two big brown chocolate labs. They excepted her right away! On February 25 Almond Joy gave birth to 13 puppies. She handled the delivery very well. We now have 10 beautiful baby's, 8 girls and 2 boys. Almond Joy has been the best mommy to all her baby's. Originally i wanted to be a foster mommy for Judy, but I have fallen in love in the 3 months we have had her,so now she is the new member of our family. She deserves a home and to be spoiled in the biggest possible way and we hope to have many great years with our Almond Joy!

AJ the Lab
AJ the Lab

Yesterday also, my friend Ben (a.k.a. Jean's boyfriend - she LOVES him) adopted AJ the lab! I took some pictures of him as well. He's already warmed up to the both of us and is SO well behaved! He has no problem getting in the crate and loves to play with Ben's cat, Bear. AJ doesn't know that Bear is smaller though and freaked him out by chasing him, but it was all good intentions. He is also a good eater, and goes to the bathroom pretty quickly after we take him outside (some dogs I have babysat in the past have taken forever to go!). He's so mellow and well behaved and we (especially Ben since AJ is his dog) already love him so much!

Alastor the Puppy

Hi Everyone! I adopted Alastor (I call her Allie) a few months ago and I just recently got a new battery for my camera and wanted to send you some pictures. She is doing so well, we are doing training together at Petsmart and she learns so quickly. The trainer calls her "wigglebottom" because when she gets excited her whole body moves from wagging her tail and she'll continue to wag her tail just as vigorously even when she's in a sitting or laying position. Its very cute. I hope to do the "Good Citizen" test with her when we finish training. Thank you so much for everything you do for these wonderful animals. Michelle Lee

Arlo the Plott Hound
Arlo the Plott Hound

Good morning! Wanted you to know Gibbs is doing so wonderful. For being in a new place, he has just settled in very nicely. And he's so smart! All I have to do is tell him or show him what to do once, and he's pretty much good to go from there. Oh, his whole name is Special Agent Jethro Gibbs...don't know if you watch NCIS, but Mark Harmon's character is one of my favorites. He's strong, silent, handsome, and always investigating something and that is exactly what Gibbs (the dog) is! So that's where the name came from. I still need to send pics to you. I laugh so hard when he gets to running in the back yard, then starts his bounding thing. It's hilarious. Anyway. Hope your day is good.
