Daisey is a pure bred Mountian View Cur. Wow! That is not a breed you run in to very often!!! This angel breath was rescued by a lovely woman who...., well, how about I just let her tell you?
"Daisy was rescued from a very poor dog owner. It was a friend of a friend kind of deal and every time I saw the poor dog she looked very sick and VERY scared. Finally I convinced the owner to let me take her. I took her to the vet to find out she was dying of a worm infection. I treated her medically and then began the long road of socializing her. After having her for 3 months, she has made a great turn for the better, but I am not about to give her back to her original owner! Unfortunately, I cannot keep her because of her energy level. She LOVES to run and I find myself with limited space. She also would love to find a home with other dogs of her same size and energy level. She is about to run my poor little 5 year old dachshund ragged! She is an extremely sweet and bring dog and she deserves to have a home that is the right fit for her.

She is still shy, but very stubborn as well. She needs a master that can take charge and be the "pack leader." She is very loyal, though, once you have gained her trust. She should not go to an unexperienced dog owner. She knows "No" and "Outside" Other than that she is really great at walking on a lead.
Because she was left in a kennel much of her puppy life, her socialization skills are a little hindered, but nothing that can’t be fixed with time and understanding. She has never been aggressive, possessive or bitten out of fear, even though she is still pretty skittish around loud noises or unfamiliar people or places. She LOVES walking on a leash and is very good at following her master’s lead. Mountain View Curs were originally bred for hunting and treeing big game, but she didn’t really inherit these particular traits. What she did inherit was a love of running! She is very good to always stay in the back yard, always with a member of her “pack” in her site, but she is super fast and likes to get the other dogs to join in. She would greatly benefit from being around other well balanced dogs. Because she gets a little nervous around quick movements, she would also be best suited towards a home with no small children. "
You know, being involved in animal rescue, well, you get exposed to a lot of unpleasant things and get to see the bad side of people. If you are not careful you can end up jaded and not really liking people. It is folks like this that bring sunshine to our lives, reminding us that the vast majority of people are good-hearted and that many of them would like to make a difference in the lives of rescued pets. This kind woman has. She has been a blessing to Daisey and given her a chance at a wonderful life. We are now looking for wonderful family to carry on this blessing for Daisey!

According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Mountain View Curs were developed by many years and generations of strict selection and line breedings starting with a strain of Original Mountain Cur. They are named after the kennel name (Mountain View) of the original breeders Michael J. and Marie A. Bloodgood, who developed the breed in the late 80’s in an effort to own curs that could hunt and be outstanding hounds, but would handle much better.
The Mountain View Curs are known today as the purebreds and thoroughbreds of the cur dog world, because of their uniformity as a breed. Many feel they should not be called a "Cur" anymore. "Cur" means dog of unknown origin. But the Mountain View Curs have a known origin.
