Description:

Angelina is such a sweet little Shih Tzu...she definitely must have been used for a breeding mama but her temperment is amazing!

When we rescued Angelina, we had her spayed and her teeth cleaned.  While at the vet's office, we discovered she also had bladder stones, which were removed.  We can't imagine how long this sweet Shih Tzu was in such discomfort but we're happy to say she is healthy and happy now!  Due to the bladder stones, Angelina does need to be a special prescription diet.  She currently eats Royal Canin Urinary SO food.  She is also on medication for dry eyes (Cyloporine), which she will need to be on for life, but anyone who adopts her will be provided with at least one bottle.  We're hoping to find a excellent forever home that will love and care for her always!

Foster Update: Angelina is doing great! She loves to be right beside you at all times. She enjoys going outside and is very good on the leash. Playing with her toys is another thing she adores.  Angelina prances around the house and runs with you outside. This little girl is the SWEETEST!!! She has also learned how to tell you when she needs to go outside. Angelina does do well with all sized dogs, but I think she would do best in a home without high energy dogs.

Angelina qualifies for our Senior for Senior program. If adopted by a senior person (55+) her adoption fee is $100.

Are you familiar with the Shih Tzu breed? Pronounced SHEET-sue, they are known as alert, spunky, happy and hardy. They are bred with an underbite which gives them a constant "smile." Traditionally, their coat is kept long, with ears blending into the body, distinct mustache, and a top knot secured with a bow. However, in our Florida climate, many are clipped short to relieve them of the heat. An alert watch dog, Shih Tzus like to bark but are usually quiet in the house. Originally from China, they were a favorite of the Imperial Chinese court and so revered that for many years after the Chinese began trading with the West, they refused to sell, or even give away, any of the little dogs. It was not until 1930 that the first pair was imported to England. The life expectancy of Shih Tzus in 16 years.
