Foster Update 2/4/13: Dervish is all grown up now and such a sleek, handsome cat! He has lost none of his kittenish playfullness though and still races around the house looking for fun and adventure. Dervish doesn't know a stranger and loves everyone. His best friend is Petra, also available for adoption. She is far more sedate but puts up with his enthusiastic attentions! She smacks him on his nose when she's had enough and wants a bit of downtime. Dervish is a loving, extremely energetic and playful cat. He does everything at high speed....He lounges on our laps whenever he isn't playing. He loves the resident dogs and even the grumpy old resident cat! Dervish needs a willing feline playmate in his furrever home and probably wouldn't do as well with young children as he can play rough.

Foster Update 9/13/12: Dervish is such a "cool" cat. He definitely has the Siamese body shape; long, lean with an "apple" shaped head. Dervish is a complete love bug. You can be sitting reading or watching TV and he will appear suddenly out of nowhere and leap over your shoulder on to your lap. He then reaches up to mush his face into yours and give you lot of kisses - then he's off again. Dervish isn't a sedate lap cat. He is fun, energetic, happy and sometimes completely nutty but you can't help but love him and laugh at his antics. He does like to sleep on your lap and cuddles up close to you at night but it's on his terms. If you try and pick him up and cuddle him tightly he squirms until you let him down but if you are stiiting down he will jump on your lap and you can drap him over your shoulder and walk around and he loves it! As I type, Dervish is in a kitchen cupboard checking things out - he can open cupboards - he is a smart boy!

Foster Update 7/20/12: Dervish is growing into a long and lean cat - still very kittenish but he looks like a mini panther. He has an "apple" shaped head of the siamese breed. Dervish is so happy with life and loves everyone. He does everything at high speed with sweet enthusiasm and then collapses on your lap or shoulder for a fuss and then a nap. You cant be sad or down with Dervish around - you just have to laugh at his antics!

Foster Update 7/1/12: Dervish is a complete joy to be around. He is above all else, a happy kitten! He loves everyone he comes in contact with, wants to play with everyone and loves, loves, loves snuggles and petting with his people.

 Don't let Dervish become another victim of BCS---commonly known as "black cat syndrome." Black cats are just as beautiful as the calicos, tabbies, tuxes, and torties! This boy has so much to give---so read on!!

Dervish was the product of a "straycation": two lovely ladies found him in the area while on vacation and luckily, Judy agreed to take him in! Poor guy was definitely someone's kitten before he got loose---he was super sweet, clean, and friendly. If only his owners had given him a microchip!  He was paired with Tony and Gambit in foster care and instantly became the ring leader and instigator of all of their "adventures." Boy, does this kitten have spunk! He loves to constantly run around and play. He would do perfectly in a home with another cat and/or possibly dog to keep him entertained. Once he has gotten out all of that energy, he loves nothing more than to cuddle with you, on your head/chest/neck/hands/arms/feet--anywhere he can fit! He will purr incessantly, either falling asleep, rolling around, or trying to play. He is a super sweet little boy with a lot of love to give, and a lot of energy, sure to keep you entertained forever! (And if you're doing something wrong, believe me---this talkative little boy will tell you!)
