Description:
Indy was rescued from a high kill shelter. He is now looking for a forever home that will love him forever!

Foster update 9/20/10: Indy is the sweetest little boy and will make a great family dog! He is even-tempered and good natured and gets along with every dog he meets. He doesn’t have a mean or aggressive bone in his body. He loves to make new friends and play and play. He’s been around other puppies as well as much larger dogs and he socializes equally well with both.
He has the softest fur and a looks like a golden retriever mix – he smiles just like a lot of retrievers do, and is the happiest boy ever. Indy loves being held and meeting new people. He has a subtle stripe of black hair that runs straight down his back and through his tail, and a couple cute white toes on one of his front paws.
Indy is crated when no one is home and usually at night as well, which is recommended whenever you bring a new dog home, but especially with puppies to protect them as well as your property. He actually likes the crate, and often goes in on his own to nap. This should continue to be encouraged by never using the crate as punishment.
He is doing great with potty training and keeps making progress. Just remember, it’s the owner’s responsibility to take him outside frequently and always praise him for going potty outside. Because he has a small bladder, I don’t leave him for longer than 5 hours at a time. Dogs don’t like to soil their crates so crating is an excellent way to potty train, however, puppies can’t be expected to hold it all day so please consider your household’s schedule before bringing a young pup home.
Indy is an absolute doll - his pictures don’t do him justice! Everyone who sees this smiley boy in person falls in love with him – come see this sweet boy for yourself! Indy is neutered, up-to-date on all his shots, microchipped and ready for his forever home. He will undoubtedly blossom into a wonderful, loving dog and a cherished member of the family.

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
