Description:Foster update 9/5/11: While Sir Dash settled in nicely with me and Barton very quickly, I was a little concerned about Sir Dash's interaction in the house the first month he was there. Even after much encouragement, he was not willing to come out of the bathroom at all. Granted, I think he will eventually come around and explore the house, but it quickly became evident that it would take a few months, rather than my allotted few weeks to make this happen. What's funny is that he isn't scared or even that shy anymore; he just likes what he likes. I think Sir Dash's motto is, "If it's not broken, why fix it?" Haha. He had his treats, pets and food in the bathroom and that was just fine with him. The only reason this was a bit of a concern is that we took him in as a companion for Miss Blair for the month we were gone and she was in the living room on the other side of the house. As I left for Italy, it became sort of an, "oh well" situation. It wasn't what I had hoped for the two of them, but at least I knew they were happy and healthy.
Well, over the past week I have been gone, Sir Dash has still not come out of the bathroom, but Miss Blair has moved it! She apparently get's right up there in the bathroom sink with him! She eats out of the same food dish and uses the same litter box! It is such a riot. I guess ol' man Dash got more than he bargained for after all. Now he has his food, treats, pets AND his lady friend with him. So cute! :-)
My elderly owner passed away in January 2010. I was heartbroken, as were my companions Blaze and Blair. With nobody to care for us, we all came to PRBJ to find a new forever home. We knew it would be tough for us, all being "seniors" ourselves (I am now 13 years old). So, here I am, a year later, still waiting for a second chance to love again. I spent the first year in a cage at PRBJ, because I was too shy to come out and make friends.
On February 7th, 2011, a loving foster family took me in to their home. It was slow going at first, I was afraid to come out from under the bookcase. But, when I did, I was rewarded with love, affection and tuna (my fav treat!). My foster mom brushes me and I just love it! I purr up a storm and start to drool because it feels soooo good! I also love to have my chin rubbed. I am a little on the chunky side, but sitting in a cage for a year will do that to anyone. My head is really round and I have an extremely short tail. My foster mom thinks those features make me extra cute! I am a solid black cat, but because of my age, a few gray hairs are peeking through. I am about 65 or so in human years and would love a human companion in the same age group. A quiet home would be best, with no dogs. I have not been around children in such a long time that it's hard to tell how I would react to them. I am really a low maintenance guy. Lots of love, a warm bed, some food and a litter box are really my only must-haves. I love to nap in a warm sunbeam. In fact, that's how I spend most of my days. I'm not big on toys or playing, but would love to be adopted with my former companion Blair. We are not in the same foster home at this time and I miss her dearly. Please consider opening your heart and home to me. I have several more years of love left in me.
Sir Dash came in with his companions, Blair and Blaze, when their owner passed away. He was very shy at first, but has now come out of his shell and is ready for his new forever home.
Dash qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors program! If adopted by a senior (55+) his adoption fee is $25.00
