Description:

Update 9/19/11: Well, it turns out that Jean likes car rides! She sits quietly and happily in the back or on the seat looking out the window. You just have to ignore her comments about one's driving skills! Take a look at her two new photos....

Foster Update 8/31/11: Jean is still the sweet ole' Jean. She always greets you in the morning and know how to make you laugh. She like to cuddle in your lap and give you little licks on your cheek. She is still a great cat and very chill. Love her.

Foster Update 8/3/11: Jean is doing GREAT! She like to sleep, but so sweet. She has her favorite spot and is a doll to have. I would recommend her for any home, but if they are looking for an enrgetic playful cat, she is not the one. Haha. She likes to be petted, in you lap, and just be loved. She is a perfect cat.

What a lovely girl our Jean is! She was a stray taken in by Jean (guess where we got the cat's name...) with her kittens. Now the kittens are weaned and our wonderful mama needs a good home.

Foster update 3/14: Jean is SO awesome! I am really having a hard time understanding why she hasn't been adopted yet, though! She is SO sweet and loving, and she got comfortable in my apartment quicker than I expected.

Foster update 3/19: I'm trying to teach her her name. I think she is starting to recognize it. I went to a website and it said to add a "y" to the end of their names because they respond to it more and to also use their name a lot when playing or petting them. She also has learned to jump on the bed with Mocha and I, from watching Mocha. I pat the bed and say "Come on!" and Mocha will jump up and now Jean is doing it too.

According to cat-lovers-only.com, the Calico cat breed is actually not a breed at all, but a tri-color coat patter, often black, red, and white. Many different types of cats can have this coat pattern, and it is not restricted to any particular type of breed. All three colors are in a distinct patches, not mixed as in Tortoiseshells. To be a true tri-color, a calico cat's colors must be: 1) white; 2) red or cream; and 3) black, blue, chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, or fawn. The variations in color from red and black are caused by a gene which dilutes, or lightens up the basic color, and produces a dilute calico cat, most commonly with a coat of white, cream, and blue."
