Samantha and her brother Darren were found as strays in a street. Both dogs were emaciated. They are very sweet and loving puppies and get along with other dogs. These two puppies had already a tough start in life already at such a young age, our goal is to make sure this nightmare will be put behind them and they have a beautiful future being loved and cared for.
FOSTER UPDATE 8/4/2017:
Samantha is gentle and sweet. She’s going to be a medium or large dog, but she has a delicateness about her form that makes her seem almost dainty. Her muzzle is long and slender, and so are her legs. She has a little white birthmark on her nose that is just adorable. When she goes out in the yard to play, she sometimes comes back to me and sits quietly at my feet looking up into my eyes. That’s really unusual for an untrained puppy to just sit at your feet hoping for attention. I believe she’ll be easy to train because she is very eager to please. She runs and plays and roughhouses with her brother like a rambunctious puppy when she is outside in the grass. Inside she will lay in my daughter’s bed for hours and be petted. She has a tendency to curl into a little ball when she’s in your arms or in your lap. She tucks her nose into herself or into the crook of your elbow and really likes to snuggle up. She sleeps in a crate with her brother, and she doesn’t cry when she is alone (though, in our house, it’s only a few minutes—she does seem to be a little more independent than her brother). She is crate trained. We take her out many times per day, and she doesn’t mess in her crate. She doesn’t have full run of the house, so she will still need some work on housebreaking when you take her home.
I know not many people have room in their lives for two puppies, but if there’s anyone out there who was thinking, “maybe we should get two dogs, so they can keep each other company..” these two would be perfect! They really love each other in an exceptional way. When they are eating, they take turns at the bowl and wait patiently for the other to finish before digging in. At first, we tried feeding them each their own bowl one in the crate and one out… and neither one of them wanted to eat separately, even though they could see each other. They both just stared at the food, and through the bars of the crate at each other. Then when we put them together, they were comfortable and started eating. When we are holding them, they are happy to be in our arms, but both of them want to be able to see where the other one is. If they can’t see their sibling, they get a little antsy and want to be put down. Also, they know how to play together and lay quietly together. Often with puppies, you can only take one out to hold, because if you take two out, they immediately get rowdy on your lap or bed, but these two snooze and snuggle together and with my daughter for as long as she wants. Outside though, they run and play and pounce on each other like you would expect. That being said, though, don’t hesitate to apply for just one of them. I know that with a big dose of love, both of them will adjust to the separation and be very happy in their new family. Whether you take just one home or both of them, these puppies will melt your heart and change your life for the better.
