Darren and his sister Samantha were found as strays in a street. Both dogs were emaciated. They are very sweet and loving puppies and get along with other dogs. These two puppies had already a tough start in life already at such a young age, our goal is to make sure this nightmare will be put behind them and they have a beautiful future being loved and cared for.
FOSTER UPDATE 8/4/2017:
Darren: This puppy is a big bundle of love. He likes to lay himself out and lay belly down and legs spread eagle on the tile, and his round little belly sticks out on both sides of him. He’s got one ice blue eye and one brown, so every time you look at him you get a little shock of how arrestingly beautiful he is. Out in the yard, he loves to chase his sister and tumble around. He also likes toys, especially squeaky toys. Inside, he will lay for hours on my daughter’s bed and just relax, not roughhousing his sister, just dozing and being petted. He loves to sit in your lap and spread himself out like a puppy shaped bean bag hanging over the edges of your knees. He has a few places he loves to get scratched including his belly. He turns up his belly to be rubbed, stretches his limbs out at all angles, and tips his head back with what I can only describe as a dog smile on his puppy muzzle. He sleeps in a crate with his sister, and he doesn’t like being alone in the crate, so you will have to comfort him and give him lots of love and attention in the beginning. He is crate trained, and if you continue to take him out multiple times per day, he won’t mess in the crate. He also doesn’t chew up his towels or spill food. He’s pretty well behaved, though one day he did pull the curtain in through the bars of the crate, but we noticed before he chewed it.
I know not many people have room in their lives for two puppies, but if there’s anyone out there who was thinking, “maybe we should get two dogs, so they can keep each other company..” these two would be perfect! They really love each other in an exceptional way. When they are eating, they take turns at the bowl and wait patiently for the other to finish before digging in. At first, we tried feeding them each their own bowl one in the crate and one out… and neither one of them wanted to eat separately, even though they could see each other. They both just stared at the food, and through the bars of the crate at each other. Then when we put them together, they were comfortable and started eating. When we are holding them, they are happy to be in our arms, but both of them want to be able to see where the other one is. If they can’t see their sibling, they get a little antsy and want to be put down. Also, they know how to play together and lay quietly together. Often with puppies, you can only take one out to hold, because if you take two out, they immediately get rowdy on your lap or bed, but these two snooze and snuggle together and with my daughter for as long as she wants. Outside though, they run and play and pounce on each other like you would expect. That being said, though, don’t hesitate to apply for just one of them. I know that with a big dose of love, both of them will adjust to the separation and be very happy in their new family. Whether you take just one home or both of them, these puppies will melt your heart and change your life for the better.
