Glenda the Puppy
Hi Amanda, I've been planning to write to you! Things are GREAT! We adore Glenda, now aka Phouka (pronounced POO-KA - it's gaelic for "mischievous little imp"), who is seemingly having a great time. She is responding to her name, and has learned "sit"and "lie down" and is working on "stay" (read: doesnt get it at all, but knows she might get a treat if she plays along). She and Matt have thoroughly bonded, and it is very clear whose dog she is...
We had our first checkup just a couple days after bringing her home - the vet actually estimated her a little older, 9 months, which explains her calm demeanor. That said, she just had her first trip to the dog park... no more calm Phouka! She loved running around like crazy with the other dogs, and slept so well yesterday afternoon. She also has become my favorite running buddy ever - she can outrun me, and drags me along the first mile or so, but can easily keep up for 3-4 miles with no problem. She still chases squirrels, but has even begun leaving them alone in favor of a good long run...!
Anyhoo, I'm attaching a few photos - one is of Phouka in her favorite spot, right in the middle of the kitchen so she can watch the chef (and any food he might drop), one is of the happy couple returning from a walk, and the last is of Phouka greeting me after an overnight at work. Thanks again for all of your help, and your patience as we found our way to Phouka! She is everything we hoped we would find, and we are so happy we brought her home!
I promise we'll visit you soon at Petsmart, so we'll see you then!
Becky, Matt, and Phouka
