Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Florrie the Beautiful Cocker Spaniel
Florrie the Beautiful Cocker Spaniel

Ms. Diane,   I am sorry that I have not gotten back with you sooner. I have not gotten our pictures loaded yet. As soon as I get those loaded I will send you an updated picture of the family. Florrie has adapted nicely. She is a very loving girl. She is very affectionate, and everyone loves her. Her name has been changed. She is now, Florrie Addyson - Affectionately known in our home as Addy. She answers to it. She has gotten very close to my husband and myself. She also gets along with our children. We have several neighbor children that come to our home, and she is so sweet with them. She even lets the toddlers love on her. We watch to be sure that they are not pulling on her. But she loves children...when they enter our home, her tail wags non stop until they pet her. She is spoiled rotten. She has taken a liking to sleeping with us. She has also taken to our cat. She is a talker. If she hears any strange noises or knocking, she barks to alert you. She is also a begger....naughty girl (lol)... we are working on that. She does beg for table food. We have started feeding her dinner at that time so that the begging has decreased. She will get the hang of it. We have also started working with her on the command sit. We use treat time as a teaching opportunity for that command. She will get the hang of that as well. Walking with Addy is fun. She loves the smell of squirrels. She will get on a trail and run....she likes to tree them. It is so funny. She will stand up on the side of the tree and try to find the squirrel. Her tail wags, and she gets so excited. I love it when she is happy.  I tell my husband frequently. I don't regret one bit rescuing Addy. Having her in our home is a giant reward. Walking her on a leash has gotten earsier. We use a harness and not a collar. She tugs to follow her sense of smell, so the collar was choking her. The harness allows her to tug, but yet, gives me control so that she can not harm herself by pulling too hard. She has a routine with walking. She is still on two of her eye drops. She is down to twice a day. She is a good girl during meds time. She will stand still and let me put the drops in her eye(s). Her site in her left eye has improved since we got her. She doesn't run into near as many things anymore. We have scheduled her last follow up with the eye dr. We are looking forward to a clean bill of health. We brought her home to Blue Buffalo dog food. She did not seem to enjoy the dry food at first. She loved the can. So we began by mixing the two for one of her two feedings. Now, she will eat the dry with out any complaint. I am so proud to have her. She is a great girl. She reminds me so much of Lucy. Thank you again for all of your help connecting us with her. She really is the perfect girl for our family.   Daphne and family.
