Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Bender the Fun Loving Boy

Hello Catherine, Good to hear from you. So you really want to hear about Bender??? Wow!! Upon first entering our house we took great pains to introduce him to our small doggie, Butterscotch. Bender hissed and batted, but Butterscotch did not reply in kind - that happened several more times the first day, but also on the first day I watched them go nose to nose without either of them saying a bad word - that was a good sign. When they are close together we make a special effort to pet them simultaneously and tell them they are brother and sister and they need to love each other - better sooner than later:-))). Bender will go on a rampage occasionally running from one room to another, jumping on and off furniture, sliding across the coffee table, leaving a trail of stuff scattered about and sometimes landing back in his kitty litter box - seemingly just for fun!!! The first night he found himself on a shelf about 12 feet off the floor - a place no other critter of ours has ever been - we were in the process of bringing in the tall ladder from the garage when he jumped. No harm done. You were right - he is full of energy. When I brush my teeth he jumps in the sink, puts his paws on my chest and tries to put his tongue on my toothbrush - apparently has a taste for Sensodyne. He follows us everywhere - when I go to my desk he jumps up and plops himself directly on top of all my work, looks at me, we nuzzle and I usually get a slew of kisses. We pick him up countless times and hold him and talk to him - the limit usually being about 7 and a half seconds - and then repeat an hour later. Had his first vet visit this morning - all is well. We do love him either in spite of all of the above - or because of all of the above. Please tell Cheryl we are taking good care of him and she can visit anytime. Perhaps this was more than you needed to know:-))) Hopefully someday Bender and Butterscotch can be photoed sitting next to each other - when that happens I send a copy to you. keep up the good work there and we'll return the crate when we're in the area. larry & phyllis
