Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Duke the Boxer

Attached are some fun photos of Lieu playing in a lake. Here is a big shocker!!!! He is NOT a boxer/lab, he is about 90% of Rhodesian Ridge back. He has had some temperament issues and very odd behavior which started raising me and Renee's eyebrows that he does nothing instinctual of a boxer or lab. We looked further into it and we found out that he is almost 100% ridge back which explains so much. We love him and he is in good hands. We walk him 3 times a day, I Rollerblade with him, take him to the park about 3 times a week and now we are both running with him since that is what he is born to do. This explains so much for us and now we know what sets him off so we can properly train him and puts our minds at ease when we see him do things irregular of a boxer/lab. So like Cesaer Milan says on one of our favorite shows the "Dog Whisperer", sometimes you do not get the dog you want, but get the dog you need" he is very true. I love Lieu and our family does too. Thanks again for all your help. Here is a link as well from dogs 101 that shows the biography of Lieu and you will see the striking resemblance. Behavior fits perfectly in every way. The ridge is not evident though unless he gets in defensive mode and then it is clear that the ridge is there and the hair goes backwards. You can also see it in the third picture when he is in the lake. His feet, legs and paws are identical to a ridge back, his hatred for cats (you will see why in the video) and the beautiful white stripe on the neck (which many of us thought boxer) He is mixed with something else but next time we go to the vet, I will get a DNA test but make no mistake about it, its definitely predominately a ridge back! :) Have a great day! http://animal.discovery.com/videos/dogs-101-rhodesian-ridgeback.html Warmest Regards, Joseph
