Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Madison the Survivor
Madison the Survivor

Thanks for the inquiry. We absolutely love Madison, she is energetic, eager to please, and very affectionate -she loves to cuddle and give lots of kisses.. Madison and our cat are slowly getting used to each other. When we have taken her on walks she is gets very excited when she sees people, bikers, other dogs, etc. She is getting better but still needs some additional training. Yesterday we took her over to my sister's house so Madison could play with her two dogs. One of them accepted Madison's right away and quickly established herself as the alpha female to which Madison could care less. She was a little too much energy for the other dog and he was growling at her and even got a little "snappy." However, this didn't phase Madison at all and she backed off (without any signs of aggression) and continued to run around and play. We are very happy with her temperament and she appears to be interested in all animals. When we walk her at night she will even watch frogs jump and chase them a bit with a look of curiosity. In regards to training, we are going to either go with a friend of mine who is a professional dog trainer or with the services you recommended. We also give her "mental workouts" and exercise everyday. The first day she was here she peed twice, pooped once, and threw up in the house...LOL. We understand this is part of the process and we are working with her on this. Since then, it has been much better with only a couple of pee accidents yesterday but that was the day we went to my sister's house, so, we are associating this behavior with excitement. We already took her to the Vet and everything is fine. Rachel and I love the fact that Madison is now part of our family. We feel so lucky that we were able to rescue a dog like her - she's awesome! Thank you for all of your help during this process. It helped us out a lot.
