Deputy the Singing Aussie
Deputy the Singing Aussie

Colleen, I just wanted to give you an update on Deputy (we’ve also taken to calling him Ole Man cause he just seems like that silly sweet old man type). We all meet him at the Oviedo Mall Saturday afternoon and it went well. So we decided to go ahead and adopt him. He was a bit reluctant to leave, I can tell he was well loved on during his stay! He was a perfect gentleman in the car ride home. We all went for a bit of a walk before giving him the grand tour inside. He promptly found one of the dog beds and made himself comfortable. After a short rest both dogs enjoyed chewing away on a bone, Deputy’s wave and snorts when he knows you have a treat is just too cute. He did mope around a bit Saturday but was very well behaved and loved on. We took a trip to PetsMart to get him some special joint/senior dog food as well as some glucosamine supplements. Sunday he perked up a good bit more. Woke up and waved his paw good morning. After a morning romp outside with Kirin, he took a bit of a nap. He seemed to rather enjoy supervising the yard work we did later in the day, he found a nice cool shady spot. He is definitely a very smart dog, often picking up on what I want him to do before I can even say it. Monday he was doing even better. Wagging his tail and waving paws in greeting. Even asked for tummy rubs a few times. We all went for a nice walk each night, waiting till it had cooled off a good bit so he wouldn’t get overheated. He does/did have two hot spots on his sides which I started treating right away. They’re looking much better now and he’s not itching at them. He and Kirin are getting along well, not playing together yet that I’ve seen but not upset at each other either. They’ll lounge around near one another. He’s going for introduction visit to my vet tomorrow morning. I can tell he was well loved and cared for, if anyone at the rescue wonders how he’s doing, please feel free to give them my contact information. I don’t mind at all anyone asking how he is, wanting pictures, or possibly meeting up to say hi to him. J Amanda
