Trainer the Puppy
Dear Pet Rescue By Judy,
I can't believe that Oliver (Trainer) is almost a year old. My Mom and I fostered him and 3 of his litter mates, since the first day they were flown into PRBJ by the Pilots and Paws Organization. We've fostered a few litters and I always want to keep them all, but there was something special about Oliver. We already had three dogs, so I knew it was out of the question. I still begged my parents because it was around Christmas time. They told me he got adopted by a family who was on vacation so we would get to keep him for the week of Christmas, but then he would go to his new family. I was so upset because I really wanted to keep him. Anyway, my parents ended up surprising me with Oliver, he was my christmas present, and he was the best christmas present I've ever gotten! He is such an adorable, lovable, dog. Our big dog Marley, a catahoula mix, has been his foster Mom since day one and continues to be his closest canine companion. We just moved to a house on 5 acres, so that is where he spends most of his time. He's up early every morning and he goes straight outside, he's out there running around most of the day. His favorite activity is definitely catching dragonflies! He is extremely smart when it comes to doing tricks, he knows sit, stay, come, down, high-five, and believe it or not he's actually learned how to say hello! Oliver is my own first dog, and I couldn't ask for a better one!
Turtle the Tabby Boy
Catherine,
Thanks for writing to check up on them. They are doing extremely well and
act like they've been living here their whole lives. Today we let them
interact with our dog Daisy, and they did really well together. No hissing
or growling - maybe a little bit of ignoring.
As you can see by the attached photos - they are really relaxed in their new
environment! We've started calling Turtle by the name "Sammy" - it just
sounds a little more pet-like than Turtle and that's what we were going to
call Sambuca had we adopted her. We still call E.T. by his given name - it
kind of fits him!
Thanks again for your help and support yesterday, and for all that you do to
help find homes for precious little animals.
Thanks,
Robert and Debbi
Taboo the Black and White Pup
Thank you so much for the note. Yes, Taboo is a sweet boy. We've shortened his name to Boo. He has quickly become a part of our family & adapted to the daily routine. We've taught him to lie down & shake hands. He seems obsessed with catching a toad or lizard - we don't let him, of course, but he loves going after where he knows they are when we go for walks. It's fun to see him chasing after his chew toys.
He had a case of conjunctivitis just after we got him, but we got medicine from our vet & it has gone away. He also has a little spot of fungus under his chin which the vet says is not unusual & is being treated. He does not enjoy being medicated - at almost 30 lbs, it is do-able, but I can imagine what a fight he'd put up fully grown.
As far as his temperment - we cannot imagine getting a more perfect match for our family. He loves everyone in our family (2 boys, ages 16 & 10, & Mom & Dad.) We all enjoy taking him for walks & to the backyard for fun & frolic. He love being bellyrubbed & having his chest scratched. It's fun to find new "sweet spots" where his leg starts twitching when you rub him.
It is clear you did a great job with him. He is as sweet as can be and is a joy to be with. Thank you for what you do!
We'll try to remember to send pictures - please e-mail us if we forget & remind us.
Tessie the Bassett
Thanks Samantha. Tessie loves her home and we love her just as much. She is so playful but calm - kind of strange. Most dogs I've had are one or the other. She's pretty amazing. Gave her a bath today and even that went very well. What a well adjusted dog. We are so lucky!
I finally found my camera so I'll take some pictures and send them soon.
My daughter is looking forward to volunteering this summer so plz keep us in the loop.
Thanks again,
Rich, Susan, Rikki, Jessie and Tessie
OH can't forget Phoebe - she's a Judy cat
Timateo the Yellow Lab
Dear Pet Rescue by Judy,
Hello....On Feb. 20th, we adopted Timateo the Yellow Lab. He is an amazing dog. He immediately became a great big brother to our 2 year old chocolate lab and an outstanding new family member. He has given us so much love since Day 1. We are so happy to have him and thank you for all the work Pet Rescue By Judy does for animals!
Thank you!
