Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Tiny the De-clawed Lap Kitten

Hi Catherine, Just wanted to let you know that Tiny (now Max) and Lexi (our Russian Blue) are fast friends and Tiny controls the house. Tiny is feeling better and is putting on some weight. Lexi and Tiny love being together and playing--Tiny is the dominant one controlling Lexi if you can believe that. Lexi is just a woose and a bit fearful of Tiny which works out fine. She constantly follows him and watches him. They are both very happy and we are in love with Tiny. He's a real gem.

Thelma the Snowshoe Siamese Lady

fell in love with Thelma the minute I walked into the room and she is the one I ended up bringing home. I took her straight to the vet for her first visit and all labs and exam came back great. I named her Ellie as I thought that suited her a little better. She's been my shadow. She loves to sit on the back of the chair or couch and has found her favorite window sill. She is doing well with the dry Blue Buffalo food and really seems happy. I love my cat!!! Thanks, Regina

Texas the Walker Hound

Hi, Do you remember a dog named Texas who was at your facility? We will have him for two years in May.... Just wanted to send you a success photo - so cute! He had just been in the pool, was then rolling around on his back and then just laying there like this, relaxing!

Tiffany the Smiling, Laid Back Girl

Hello Catherine Tiffany is doing great We call her Libby now. Our family associated the name Tiffany with a "purebred" longhair kitty and we are all about shelter kitties. Hope that's okay, no offense intended to anyone! She has settled in beautifully. At first, our other cats were not playing very nice, but her mellow personality didn't threaten them and it took much shorter than I thought it would for them all to understand each other. My mom (who lives with us) has a very rambunctious 6 year old male who my other 2 females (ages 8 & 9) can't stand, but he and Libby are buddies. Before Libby came to live with us, we used to have to put him in "lock up" in my mom's suite from time to time because he annoyed the other 2 so much. Our house has been an older cat household for quite some time before we brought Libby home We are really enjoying how much she loves to play, so naturally she has plenty of toys. She brings us her toys as presents, and jumps to places we haven't seen a cat jump to in a long time. Her virus is much better. Her eye has cleared up nicely. She still does sneeze quite a bit, but it seems to be part of who she is, and the other cats did not catch it. The "hot spot" she had is getting smaller and smaller. Her appetite, on the other hand, has gotten bigger and bigger. She has discovered wet food. My family swears she has gained weight since coming to live with us. Truthfully, I think she has, but how can I not love seeing her fat and happy? She loves clean clothes. My husband calls her the laundry kitty, because wherever there is clean laundry, she finds it. She loves to be pet and loves to be brushed, and has a very loud purr that she is generous with, which we love! It does appear we had to earn her trust, though. Sometimes she would shrink back from a pat like she thought she was going to be hurt. So, it's been nice to watch her confidence increase almost to the point where my one daughter calls her an attention hog and Libby will talk to you and demand to be pet. Which of course we are happy to oblige. So your original question was how she is settling in and I probably gave you way too much information, but we want you to know she is safe, happy and loved in her forever home. It is late at night after a crazy day, but I did want to get back to you when I had more than 2 minutes to devote to answering you. Now I must go because Libby was laying next to me while I was writing to you but my husband has carried her off to bed with him. Off I go because that is MY kitty he just made off with! Thank you so much for checking up on us. You do amazing work there, and I tell anyone who will listen. Nancy

Tucker the Special Needs Chi/Doxi
Tucker the Special Needs Chi/Doxi

Just to let you know…our rescue Lamonte (formerly Tucker !) is doing well. Our Golden and him are often found together in a "puppy pile". I am sure that the cat & Lamonte will soon be friends. We walk the neighborhood twice a day & he sits with me while I am on-line in the evenings as a Triage Nurse. He is truly a over. And yes he is a little bit off as you described him. Just thought I would let you know that we had changed his name. i believe this is what I was instructed to do so that his Rescue Tag info is up-to-date. He seems more like a Lamonte than a Tucker. Much more dignified for a dog who is prone to run in circles & has an injury to his left eye. Thank you for all you do. Thank you for this wonderful addition to our household!!! Cynthia
