Sombrero ~ The hat pup!
Hello Judy,
I just wanted to say thank you for letting us adopt Finn about a month ago. As you might remember we adopted him about 2 weeks after loosing our 14 year old lab mix that we had adopted from you when she was a puppy. We got Finn partially to be a campion not only for the family but also our other dog Anna who appeared to be depressed after loosing Maya. Finn was so great with Anna and patient when she would just look at him like he was crazy and walk away from him. He would curl up next to her and just lay his head on her and just be with her. I think he sensed something was really wrong before we did. Anna started going down hill very quickly over the last couple of weeks and on Wednesday she was diagnosed with cancer and we made the hard decision to let her go since her system was beginning to shut down, she was only 10 years old. Up until the end Finn could be found curled up with her frequently just being with her. Now he is helping us all get through Anna's passing.
I have to say he is the sweetest puppy I have ever had. Right now he is curled up at my feet while I type. He loves to be where we are, either playing with us or curled up on someone's lap. He loves his toys, which he scatters over the whole house, he does not like to leave any of the toys in the basket, they all have to be out. And he does some of the silliest things, like sticking his muzzle in the water dish and blowing bubbles (yes water goes everywhere and the floor is soaked) and he always wanted to have hold of Anna's leash like he was walking her when we went out the front door. He is doing great on house training and will sit by the front door when he needs to go out, we are going to try and train him to ring a bell to let us know because he is so quiet about it but he has only had a couple of accidents in the house since we got him. He can now sit and is working on down. He begins obedience training tomorrow and I expect him to pick everything up quickly, he learns very fast. He loves to go on walks and goes on many a day. Yes he has an issue with his puppy nipping and goes crazy jumping when I get home but we are working on getting him to stop. He also goes wild at the sound of food and is all over the place and practically inhales his food. We are working on teaching him to sit while we attempt to put his food bowl down.
He has been to the vet once and has another appointment next week. Our vet said he wished all his patients were like Finn and then Finn curled up and went to sleep on the vets feet.
He is such an amazing dog that I can't believe he was the last of his litter to get a home. That must have been because he was intended for us.
Please let his foster family know that he is doing great.
Thank you again.
Teresa
