Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Kali the Little Diva

Wanted to pass on an update on Ms .Kali. You would not recognize this little girl. She has certainly come into own. Extremely affectionate and talkative. She definitely rules the house. She and Harry have bonded and are often playing together. She likes to play ball on her own and Harry likes to play fetch. She is fascinated by the wildlife outside the window. Harry has to be constantly explained that the big outdoor room is not accessible without his portable house. He also likes to walk on countertops, hang out in the kitchen sink and my bathtub! How does Kali react to a Christmas tree? We know it will be an adventure with Harry. We do also want to let you know that they were great comfort to Sam. If you recall, we adopted them to give Sam playmates. Unfortunately, we lost Sam last Friday. Unbeknown to us, he had an underlying condition that resulted in pan anemia and bone marrow cancer. However, Ms. Kali and Harry both stayed with him all the time. Kali was extremely maternal and gentle with him. Harry actually stayed with him, quiet when it got bad. He actually laid on top of Sam the last night he was home to see if some of his energy would help him. They both have been a true blessing to have and neither one of us could imagine coming back in the house without them. So, Thank you again! We wanted to thank you all so much for the assistance and patience that you have shown for the last several weeks! As you may or may not know, we Sam, our 12 year old tabby had lost his littermate due to a heart attack several months ago. He had become very sedentary and had been grieving. When, we felt he was ready, we started looking for a companion cat for him. After much searching, we found Kali. Kali is truly a Diva from the get go! She is such a sweet natured child and she gets along with Sam perfectly. We were really concerned the first couple of days of fostering but Lisa her foster mom, kept saying “ Give her some time.” We did and she came into her own! Then, we ended up with Cucumber. We renamed him Harry G. He is a 5 month old bouncy kitten! What a joy and he definitely gets Sam’s attention. He needs to learn that Ms. Kali needs her personal space. We have the joy of having 3 cats in the house and Feng Shui is restored! Karen

Krissam the UCF Pointer Puppy
Krissam the UCF Pointer Puppy

Hi Judy and crew, Just wanted to let you know how Krissam (now Bella:) is doing. We love her. My mom- Marlene, her dog Molly, and me- Kelly- brought her home on Saturday. Bella is such a good puppy and has already found her place in our home (and has done much exploring ;-) I take Molly and her on daily walks- often more than 1- I am very active. She is doing so well on the leash, runs and walks for a good 40 minutes! We spend a lot of time in our big backyard, playing, and teaching her to sit. (Right now, then fetch, speak, paw, etc later) She's eating and sleeping well, loves to play with my 5 year old b/g twins and is very affectionate. Loves the squeaky toys we've gotten for her and often already 'brings them back'. She has had only a few accidents in the house and is well on her way to be housebroken. We can tell that her foster family took good care of her. Also- it has been so wonderful to see the joy she has brought to my mom Marlene- a stage 4 cancer patient who I currently live with. I am a believer in pet therapy and Bella is proof of that. My mom, as well as me and now my own twins, are dog lovers. It makes my day to see my mom smile and laugh and Bella has brought that to her. As a former volunteer for a pet rescue group (when I lived in NJ), I know how passionate and loving your group is. You have to be to do what you do. I know this first- hand and we love you for it. Thank you for your service..and for our new family member. We will keep you updated Love, Kelly, Marlene, Bella, Molly & Noelle & Lucas(my twins)

Ka Chung the Maltese
Ka Chung the Maltese

Ka Chung is doing great! I've decided to rename him Bo, and surprisingly enough he's responding well to that change. The first couple days he was a little lethargic (overwhelmed) but he's really picked up energy and spirits! Bo's an incredibly sweet and loving little dog. He loves to be on the couch with me but follows me around everywhere too. He's obsessed with apples as Cheryl (his foster) pointed out, and has really grown a big appetite! We only have one more day of the antibiotics left and he's doing a lot better with hard food pieces than I thought, (don't think his mouth is bothering him.) He sleeps with me every night, and he snores! lol. We've got a long way to go with the leash training and house breaking but he's getting better every day!

Kitty Perry the Kitten

Hi Catherine, Ri Ri is settling in very well. I can definitely see how attached he is to his sister. They spend quite a bit of time together. I have some pictures. I gave them the names Max and Ruby :) I love them both! Heather
