Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

JoJo II the Spaniel

Hi Pet Rescue by Judy, I just wanted to give you a wee update on how Abe (formerly known as JoJo II) is getting on in his new forever home. Adopted on June 12th, Abe has been home with me for three weeks now; although it feels like he has been here forever! He truly is a super dog; his favorite activities include getting belly rubs, napping, getting belly rubs, riding in the car, getting belly rubs, getting cuddles, getting belly rubs, licking and cuddling his pet (stuffed!) dinosaur.. and did I mention getting belly rubs? Fully house trained, super quiet (except when he is my little watch dog and thinks he hears someone coming... which I love!), walks well on a leash, eats well but is completely non food aggressive, super people friendly and a great fan of the car, he really is the perfect dog! We are working on his fear of big dogs and plan to start training classes soon but in the mean time, he has made lots of little dog friends and loves hanging out in the little dog park; even if he does just sit and watch everyone else running around! I'd like to say a big thanks to Pet Rescue by Judy for rescuing Abe, and also to his wonderful foster mom Jennifer for taking such good care of him until he had a chance to come into my life. Super star Abe, he steals the hearts of everyone he meets with his cheeky grin, floppy ears and gorgeous swooshing tail; as well as getting them thinking about exactly what kind of dog he really is? Everyone loves to guess! Thanks for all you do Pet Rescue by Judy! Forever grateful, Abe and Ona.

Jewels the Terrier

I wanted to touch base with you because… …this past Saturday was our one month anniversary of our adoption of Jewel. By the way, we’d initially gone to look at Madison but found her energy to be too high for our lifestyle. While we were discussing Madison in the parking lot volunteers were walking dogs by us to the park across the street and out of the building came Jewel. I took one look at her and said to my husband, “Honey, look at her! She’s beautiful!” The volunteer heard me and walked Jewel closer to us. Jewel pressed her body against my husband’s legs from behind and walked around in front of him and sat on his feet! She indeed picked him. We hung out with her for about 10 minutes before adopting her on the spot! When our Claudia died on 11/4/09 I had been praying every day to be shown beyond a shadow of a doubt the perfect dog for us. After having Jewel home one day we renamed her “Jordan” which is my maiden name and suits her personality. Jordan is an absolute joy to live with! She’s so loving and cuddly, smart and fun. She loves children and family gatherings. Jordan has learned easily and quickly how to sit/stay, down/stay, comes when called and walk on a leash with a gentle leader. She does not jump up on anyone when they walk into our home. She’s an angel. When we brought her home she weighed in at 44 pounds with her back bone and ribs showing. As of this morning she’s now 49.5 pounds and continuing to fill in. She’s enjoying her Wellness diet. Jordan walks every morning one to two miles, plays ball (chase and catch) every evening in the back yard with her new mom and dad and has play dates with her American Staff. Terrier girlfriend 3 days a week for at least one hour. She has four toy baskets around the house and is constantly running around playing with different toys throughout the day when she’s not napping on our bed, in her bed, her chair or the living room floor. We LOVE HER so much. I have spoken highly of Judy’s Rescue to many people and will continue to do so. My husband and I were both impressed with the volunteers we met during our adoption process and how candid they were with sharing the personalities of each dog we were interested in. Jordan is a PERFECT fit for us. Thank you so much for all of your time and energy during this process. Sincerely, Suzan Joiner

Jackie the Shepherd Puppy
Jackie the Shepherd Puppy

I wanted to let everyone know how Jackie (now Lilie) is doing. From day one Lilie fit right into our home. Our Chihuahua Rosie loves her and they are fast becoming life long friends. We are finding that she is really smart. Her first day in her new home she took over one of Rosie's small beds in our living room and proceeded to drag it into the kitchen by one of our other dog beds (I guess she really wanted to be by Rosie). As you can see in some of the pictures she got comfortable here really fast. From the first day she seemed to be housetrained, could sit and shake. Lilie is my son Alex's dog and so he has now trained her to lie down and other fun tricks. We decided to put her in a obedience class with other puppies and she is a star so we entered her in the "Puppy Star Program" which will earn her alot of awards from AKC. Because of her ability to do about anything we think she will excel in these classes so we plan to continue to have her take the other classes they offer teaching agility and tricks. Alex homeschools so, as you said, it has become a great learning opportunity for him also. Lilie has become a great addition to this family and we love her very much. She loves to see Grandma and Grandpa, loves to go for walks, and play with her stuffed animals. Thank you so much for having such a great organization. I don't believe we would have found such a wonderful dog had it not been for you. I check the web site every day to see what other dogs have gotten adopted hoping Lilie's mom Jennifer will be next. God Bless! Rachel D.

Joey the Pointer Puppy
Joey the Pointer Puppy

We had to change Joey's name to Riley, as my son-in-law and grandson have the same name-we went to the vet today and Riley is doing well-weighs 15 lbs had a shot and Comfortis pill with his lunch for fleas-He is doing really well- Riley goes back to the vet next month-the puppy biting is getting under control- Riley enjoys the back yard and the screened pool area-He is getting 5 short walks a day-Susan I can not thank you enough for the housebreaking routine you had with him-he has only had 3 accidents and it was our fault for not getting him out quick enough-he goes to the back door and asks to go out sometimes it is only to explore and since it is still hot we do not stay out very long-Thank you for allowing us to have Riley and thank you for the great unselfish work that you all do at Pet Recue by Judy-

Jaguar the Lab
Jaguar the Lab

Judy, we wanted to say thank you. We adopted Jaguar on Aug. 14, 2009 and he has definitely become part of the family. He is a very loving dog and we couldn't have asked for any other. Thank you again so much. ~ Rick and Tonya
