Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Honey Bun the American Bulldog/Dane Mix

Husband & Wife Stories! Hello, I sent a few pics of Honey/ now Odie. He is fitting in very nicely with us and our other two dogs, Willie and Ralphie. He is everything everyone described him to be. Very sweet and loving. Loves to go on car rides, be with the family and of course be loved in return. We took him to the Sanford dog park recently in hopes he could met a few larger breed dogs and have some large breed dog fun (with the two little ones he is very careful but we can tell he enjoys the company of larger dogs). The interesting part is I have learned there is a big difference in sporting breeds vs working breeds. Rocky would be running around playing fetch until we said we forced rest. Odie had a few good running around chasing games with a boxer puppy and shepherd and then just wanted to be near us. Followed us around. We anticipated being there for a few hours but after an hour Odie was pooped wanting to be back at home sleeping on his dog bed. His mild calm nature is the balance we were looking for. He gets out his energy quickly while outside and then comes right back inside to rest. We will be at sham pooch to get the "kids" photo taken and Odie a wash. Will you be attending? Lanie Hello Yvette, My name is Dan and I am Lani's husband. I wanted to give you a bit of a different perspective on how Odie has been doing. In short, Odie is a phenomenal dog! He has acclimated well to our family and other pups and is an absolute joy to be around. He spends most of his day laying at my side as I work in my office and he is eager to roll on his back for tummy scratches every so often. Odie has a knack for staring into my eyes without blinking to let me know that he wants to get a pet on his head and once I start, he retaliates with a ferocious tongue that always seems to be wet and cold. Because of this I have started keeping a paper towel on my desk to wipe down after our interludes. On days where I must work outside of my home office, upon returning I am greeted with a dog that is so excited he doesn't seem to have control over his tail! It makes me laugh every time I get home to see a dog so big wag his tail so much that his whole back half is shaking as well (something I had forgotten I missed so much with our late Chesapeake Bay Retriever because of his arthritis in his tail and back). Words cannot express the thanks our l family would like to send to you, Kathy, and PRBJ. We have been truly blessed with a wonderful companion as well as people that were willing to give Odie a second chance at a life that he truly deserves. You all are truly doing something great for these animals and we are glad we could help make a small difference. Best Regards, Dan

Holstein the American Bulldog

Dear Judy and everyone @ prbj, this update is coming to you very late as time has flown by. We wanted to update you on Holstein. He is doing great...very active! He gets along great with his three other "four-legged" siblings and they are all having fun..too much fun!! We are so blessed to have them and they are blessed to have been rescued by you. As soon as we can find a place with more room..we will add to our family! Thanks for all you do for all of these special animals!

Houdini

I just wanted to say thank you for all you do for the animals. I adopted a cat from you about a year ago and he's doing great! He's come along way from a shy little kitten now he's a mischevious full grown kitty and the name Houdini still fits him very well. It was no problem getting photos of him - he loves the camera and and the attention from as many people as possible. Anyways I wish you the best of luck with all your rescues and if it wasn't for you i would not have a great pet and companion.

Hoosier the Super Affectionate Boy

Greetings PRBJ: In October, we came in to see about adopting a new cat. What we didn't expect is that we'd walk out with two new family members. As we attempted to coax Cheddar out of his enclosure, Hoosier decided to climb into our cat carrier and stay. He was so sweet and affectionate; his personality won us over and we couldn't turn him down. Both boys rode home to Oviedo with us and over the past two months, have integrated nicely into the household with our older girl, Gypsy. The boys, now known as Eddie (which is short for his new name: Edward Cheddar) and Herbie (short for Herbert Hoosier) are best of friends. They LOVE to play together, especially Eddie, who plays like a kitty. They have the luxury of exploring a 2 story home and sliding across tile and wood floors. The house has plenty of windows, out of which the love to gaze. They also enjoy watching over everyone from the plant high shelves. The boys are incredibly affectionate. Herbie sleeps at our feet and Cheddar usually sleeps on or in between our pillows. They act like brothers and best friends. They often clean each other's faces and necks. It's obvious that Herbie enjoys his "big brother" role. Eddie (also known as the "Sofa Squirrel", "Little Man", "Fuzz-Bunny", and "Ch-Edward") is quite enamored with our older girl, Gypsy (an 8 yr old grey tabby). She mostly ignores him but sometimes she plays ....and we think she enjoys the attention, even though she pretends that she doesn't ;) Herbie (also known as the "Couch Cougar", "Big Man", "Buster", and "Hoosier") is very social. He is somewhat a lap cat. He loves to sit on the couch with us at night and sometimes even on our laps. He enjoys company and loves to stretch up for pets. Our friends and family adore him because he is so sweet and social. The boys love playing with their "mice"...three large stuffed mice that they "conquer" and offer to us nightly. They also enjoy taking turns on their double-wide cardboard scratchers. There isn't anything that Eddie can't turn into a toy, so we've had to "Eddie-proof" areas of our house. Best regards for the new year! Matt and Susan

Handle the Lab Mix

I've attached a picture of our three furry babies (well three of the four - we also have a guinea pig) living in harmony :o) Rex (aka Handle) is on the couch along with our cat, Crosby and our dog, Honey is on the floor.
