Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Dasher
Dasher

Thanks again for your assistance in helping us to adopt Dasher. We had a fantastic visit and have fallen in love with Dasher. This smooth process could not have happened had it not been for all the volunteers including yourself. I think you all of you should feel proud. I promise to send pictures and keep you all updated on Dasher. He has already become one of the family. Please forward this message to Judy as I would like for her to know the wonderful job she and her staff are doing. Just FYI, Marla the volunteer I spoke of earlier was at the store today. You should have seen her face when she saw us with Dasher. Pure excitement! Enough for now. Time to walk the little guy. Please take care of yourself and continue to do an awesome job for the sake of all these animals. You all are AWESOME!! Thanks again! Andrew

Durian the Bulldog Puppy

My gosh, I apologize. I have been meaning to write you, but just have been so busy since getting Durian, now Amadeus. I had seen his profile online and got to see him before he was available for adoption and fell in love with him then. I picked him up the day after my birthday on Nov. 18th and took him to the vet the very next day. I go to Waterford Lakes animal hospital, they are very good. He had some fleas and got him on the monthly Trifexis now, so that is no longer an issue. He just got his last prelim shot on Monday so he is good til Dec. Besides that, he has been in perfect health and he is just at 26 lbs. He is pretty well house trained but will have an accident if I let him go too long. He has free reign of my and my parents 4 bedroom homes, so he is living quite large to say the least. This is my first puppy and I could not be happier, Amadeus is just a playful, sweet and lovable dog. He loves his walks and bringing back treasure and I just can't figure out why he bites his leash when it's time to go back home, it seems he wants to run and I do and he likes it so I guess that is what he wants. His niping has been getting better and after his first Christmas, he has plenty of toys to go through. My sister and nephews have 2 small dogs and recently moved to Buffalo, so Amadeus has also been kinda therapy for my parents and I, since we miss them so much. I have always wanted a dog an finally decided to get one. I work from home 2 days a week and travel to Chicago for 3 days a month and my parents live only 10 min away, so they help take care of Amadeus for me. I just want to say, I sincerely thank you for choosing to foster Amadeus while he was waiting for adoption. Thanks for following up on him and I will always be available for updates on his progress. Rest assured he is very loved and he has adjusted very well to all of his new surroundings. Please see the attached set of pics as well, Take Care.

Deacon the Large Lab/Bulldog Puppy

I thought you'd like a picture to put up of Deacon now. He is very happy and is a super cuddle bug when at home, but loves to run around at the dog park with the other dogs and just play till he can't play anymore Sorry we never got around to sending pics or writing earlier. Life's been a little hectic, but Deacon is great he is always happy to see me when I come home from work with his whole butt wagging, and loves falling asleep on the bed with me at night. I couldn't have asked for a better friend.

Dora the Adorabull Girl
Dora the Adorabull Girl

Hi Colleen, We just wanted you to know that we are settling in with DORA and it is going GREAT! It is actually hard to believe how good it is going. She has behaved wonderfully and is very affectionate. She has been eating and going to the bathroom with no problems and no accidents! She doesn't like to get in her cage, but once she is in there, she is fine. We are very very happy to have her here. Thank you so much for your help in this process. Sincerely, Kristin & Jason

Dusky the Blue Puppy

I'm so glad you emailed us! I have Dusky (who now goes by Niko). He is doing wonderful! He loves people and other dogs and him and my 1 year old are best of friends. They follow each other around everywhere! We have had no issues except the first week we had him he had giardia, but our vet fixed it within a few days. He is close to 35 lbs now so we are expecting a big puppy, which is perfect! I attached a picture of him with my baby. Thank you for bringing him into our lives!
