Buster the Westie
They are simply wonderful. Buster is so much fun and can ball for days and loves the dog park where he will run with the big dogs all day long! Dodger is a loving little boy who really just wants to snuggle, but will play if Buster’s getting too much attention. Buster loves to chase shadows and will go nuts over a flashlight.
Bruski the Yorkie (Video)
We are all doing well! Sandberg (formally known as Bruski- he never really answered to Bruski, so we changed his name) acclimated into the household almost immediately.
Sandberg is a happy, busy kid. He LOVES to go for walks and sleep on satin sheets with our girls.
He's proven to be a good fit for our family--he's definitely a keeper!
Thank you (and Pet Rescue by Judy) for finding him and letting us adopt him.
Sincerely,
Julie
Babs the Chi/Pug
I wanted to write and give you an update on our adorable dog! We adopted Babs from you in the winter, February I believe. She had a terrible case of kennel cough for the first two weeks we had her. She wouldn't eat or drink for a few days. I had to feed her chicken broth off my fingers and thank god we found out about Nutrical - she survived off that for about a week. She lost over a pound, and for her size, that was a lot.
Despite this rocky beginning, she has grown into a delightful dog that's a wonderful part of the family. We renamed her Lemon... due to two factors. One, my husband is a cook and we wanted a food name... and two, Florida's lemon law. It's a joke. And we call her Lem or Lemmie for short. ;)
She's such a sweet sweet dog. If I sit down, she's instantly on my lap. She loves people and other dogs, sometimes too much! We're trying to get her to like Baby, (formerly Tilly the kitten) but they get along like, well, cats and dogs! We taught Lemon some tricks. She can sit, stay, come, go to bed, lay down, get off, and give me paw. Some with more consistency than others. She'll ALWAYS stay, but she won't always go to bed. Hehe. She loves ice cubes and her dentastix. She also chews anything. Her nylabones, her stuffed animals, 3 pairs of my flip-flops, my husband's crocs, the arm of my husband's chair.... But we've learned a lot, I don't leave my flip-flops around any more! Heh.
Baby is doing well also. She is SO talkative! She meows at us all the time, to tell us about her day. It's quite funny because she's a big cat and her meow is sooo squeaky and high-pitched. Baby's favorite toy is her little catnip filled fish. She also loves all my pens, and steals them regularly from my desk. She sleeps on the bed with us, sometimes on my pillow, and she thinks she's the queen of the house. And she is!
I wanted to thank you for Babs (and Tilly.) They are our kids, and we love them both dearly. They're both adorable and hysterical and we couldn't imagine having a better dog or cat.
Bumgardner the Entertainer
Bumgardner was always one of the loudest kittens at the shelter. For some reason, he was hanging out in the big cat room. He was a small kitten, but he was a force to be reckoned with. Being a volunteer in the cat kennels, I get to know the cats really well, and there has never been a kitten to have such an impact on me as Bumgardner had. His nickname was "The Terrorist" because he was so wild, but I found that to be a great quality of his. I would pick him up, and he would immediately launch himself out of my arms, landing wherever he could. But when I sat in the chair in the cat room, he would make his way to me, and snuggle right up.
He was so wild and fun, I ended up taking him home (just to foster, mind you) so he could keep my little cat Frankie company. I had three girl cats and Frankie at the time, and Frankie was just terrorizing the girls. They hated him! The second Bummie got out of the crate at my house, he started to make himself at home, and an immediate friendship blossomed between the two crazy boys. That was last September, and ever since they have been wrestling and romping around the house. They get a little rough with each other at times, but they know each others limits. Sometimes they gang up on the girls, but they really just love playing with each other.
Recently, I took in a mama cat who had kittens at my house. Since day one, Bumgardner has tried to be a part of their lives. He tried mercilessly to sneak into the room, where the mama cat was ready to shred him. Eventually, the kittens started to be integrated into the rest of the household, and Bummie took them under his wing. He has played papa to them--or should I say mama? He lets the kittens nurse on him, or attempt to. He follows them around, teaches them the tricks of being a cat, and is generally just awesome with them. He cleans them when they're gross little kittens, and lets them have the first bites of food.
To say the least, Bumgardner is the perfect cat for my cat family. Its been almost a year since he came to live with us, and I love him more and more each day. He warms my heart and brightens my day. In fact, today, as I left the house, I said goodbye to Bummie, and he meowed back. He does this every day, as if he is saying, "I'll take care of things around here while you're gone, mom, don't worry." I love this cat.
