Jack
Jackie-boy was 7 1/2 years old. The funniest part about his beginning with us is that we moved down here in June 2003, we adopted Indy about 1 week in(not planned just stumbled on Pet Rescue by Judy in PetSmart Altamonte) Ian saw her, she was all white with toasted marshmallow color on her. We adopted her right then and there. :o)
2 weeks later, we go back to PetSmart and her brother, Jack was still there and unadopted. We look at him and Andy says 'Don't tell me...you want him too?' So, Jackie-boy became ours. We brought him home and he & Indy were so thrilled to see each other.
Indy was the alpha of the relationship so everything was about her. He'd spend hours grooming her, cleaning her ears and her eyes and just loving her. Sometimes we'd have to tell him to stop because the slurping would just become too much. LOL!
Jack didn't have a mean bone in his body, he was truly the most gentle creature ever. However, he did seem to have some issues with the UPS man. I can't tell you how many times we came home to find our vertical blinds looking like swiss cheese! I actually have a stock of replacement blinds! Levelor is going to miss Jack as well, I'm certain that their stock price will drop now that he is gone.
He loved to go on long walks, he had a friend behind a fence that he would look for and walk really slowly near the yard to see if his friend would come to say Hi. I don't know what his friend's name is but so sweet that he was his friend and they barely knew each other.
On Sunday(keep in mind that Jack passed on Monday,) we bought the 3 dogs doggie bagels from Einstein's. Indy didn't do anything with hers and neither did Sadie. I broke Jack's up for him because he didn't really care to eat hard things. However, he gathered up theirs while they were unattended and put them on his bed, like he was the king of the bagels. Very funny!
Jasmine the Border Collie
Jasmine came into my life when she was about 8 months old, her original owner was abusive to her and I could not bare to see this any longer, I finally went to the owner and asked him to please take care of his dog, what he is doing is not right, the owner went outside to the short leash he kept Jasmine on 24/7, unleashed her and said if I wanted her, she is mine.
I took Jasmine home, she was very skiddish at first and I had a hard time trying to get through to her, then one day in my back yard, I turned on the hose to give one of my other "kids" a bath and Jasmine perked up and started to play in the water, I found a way to get through to her.
For the next 8 1/2 years, Jasmine was always at my side, awake or sleeping, in her last year, she started to loose her sight, I took her to a specialist but it is in the breed and there was nothing he could do for her.
Even though Jasmine had very poor sight, she would still find me in the house or in the yard.
Jasmine in the last months developed breast cancer, but as bad as she was feeling, I would still get a tail wag when I would sit on the floor and pet her and comfort her.
Jasmine passed away Thursday afternoon, May 8th 2008 around 12:30 p.m.
She is laid to rest in her favorite place under my avacado tree.
She is survived by her brother, P.J. (My Chihuahua) her sister Bessie (My Rat Terrier) her sister Cupid (My Chow/Lab mix) and Nala (My black lab)

Juanita
I heard about this cat in Altamonte Springs Petsmart. I saw her a week
beforehand and now Judy called me and said Juanita was getting "nippy" because
she has been stuck in a cage. Juanita was a mother cat having a litter 5 months
prior. I said bring her over and she can stay with me until we find a forever
home. I always adopt the "less adoptable" cats. Well Juanita quickly grew on us
and became the newest member of the family. She slept next to me at night and
was always just so appreciative to receive attention by her loud motor and her
rubbing her face in yours. She started to get along with the other cats
especially Phoebe, the "queen" of the house. She eventually stopped eating and
we knew there was something wrong. She had surgery but never recovered from it.
I miss her so much already even though we only had her about six weeks. I find
comfort in knowing she had a home in the final weeks of her life and was given
the best health care. I firmly believe in rescuing and having as many cats as I
can handle since there are so many that need homes. -Abel Marowitz
