Ivory is a wonderful mixed Dachshund puppy. She is all love! According to her foster, "Do you play the piano? My foster mom named me Ivory 'cuz of my little ivory keyboard toes!"
Ivory is at a wonderful age because she is still a puppy yet, she is past many of the annoying puppy behaviors such as chewing up your whole house. She loves people and dogs and gets along fabulously with both. She loves affection and will give you kisses galore.
Foster update : She is adorable! Highly energetic, alert and playful. She is being housetrained and listens to command "you want to go out to potty". She may still have accidents inside the house if she's not regularly taken out a few times during the day especially when playing inside the house and she gets excited.
She sleeps through the night. She has learned to keep her crate clean. We try to use the crate when we're busy and can't keep an eye on her. She doesn't complain when she's in her crate except when it's time for her to eat and she's hungry or if she wants to play. She eats 3 meals and drinks lots of water. When she's outside she has a tendency to eat everything on the ground--mulch, leaves, grass, bugs, etc. We have to watch her and give her the "no!' command and she's learning to listen and obey with this.
She loves kids. She loves to play with a ball, chew toy, tug-of-war with the leash and even tag with the kids! She hides and dodges like a pro! My kids have a lot of fun with her. I think she would very well suit a family with kids. At night after her meal and enough playtime Ivory likes to snuggle close to someone if we're watching TV on the couch and even take a snooze on our lap.
I don't know how she will be with cats as I don't have any. She may chase after small animals though. She does chase after and catch the anole lizards that come on my pool deck!
Ivory will make a great pet for some lucky family. We encourage all our adopters to take their new pet to obedience classes to help train and socialize their new dog.
