About Sokka the Siamese Kitten | |
|
|
Sweet little Sokka came to us as one weekend in sad condition. His tail had a nasty skin infection that needed lots of TLC. Judy and April spent two hours with this little fellow that evening cleaning him up and showering him with attention. What a sweet little thing he is!!!
11/04 Foster Update: Sokka is so cute and certainly loves his "family". It seems his favorite thing is to run and wrap his little arms around your ankles as you are walking. He is very interactive and loves when you play with him. His little paws are about the size of a dime...pushing it...maybe a penny!!
11/09 Foster Update: Let's see...how can I say this...I think everyone should foster a kitten to remind themselves just how precious life is and how much joy is added by these little beings.
Sokka is an amazingly wonderful kitten. He is very affectionate. He likes to play but also likes to lay on your lap or in your arms. Today I put him down 3 times. Before I knew it, he jumped back on my lap! I left him there for a little while as he purred. I felt so bad because I needed to get up. When I did, I layed my sweatshirt on the chair and layed him there. I thought for sure he would get up. He didn't. He layed on the sweatshirt for a few hours.
Sokka LOVES to chase after the other cats tails. I won't say how they feel about that! So, he goes after the dogs' tails! He is really good with both cats and dogs. I have not seen anything that intimidates him.
11/11 Foster Update: I just can't get enough of this little guy! As I was doing some computer work, he climbed up into my lap and proceeded to "relax" (as you see in the photos with the gray background). "Relaxed" pretty much describes this young man. Don't get me wrong...he plays like a kitten but when it's time to slow down...he relaxes. Nothing really stresses him out.
12/07 Foster Update: Sokka is an amazingly affectionate little kitten. I've never had a kitten/cat where if you need to get up, you can place him on someone else's lap - and he stays there! He just loves people and cats - and doesn't mind dogs either. In fact, he probably got his first "bath" from a dog today. The dog was cleaning his head as Sokka slept...no problem there. We keep saying that we hope whoever adopts Sokka is okay with having a lap cat...or a stomach cat...or a shoulder cat. You think I'm kidding?
12/15 Foster Update: Well, now I think this kitten is going through his "terrible twos". I say that only because he won't leave the other cats alone. I believe he thinks he is trying out for a professional football team - for the tackle position. The only thing wrong with that is that the other cats don't like football.
Other than that, he continues to be the sweetest, most affectionate kitten I've ever come into contact with. When he needs to recharge, he climbs up on my lap to sleep. Sometimes when he is in my lap, he stretches his arms up toward my neck so that I will lean back and he can stretch his body out while laying on my stomach.
He continues to be a "purring machine".
According to the Cat Fancier's ssociation, this ancient breed, perhaps the oldest of all our cats, is able to communicate like no other. The Siamese voice is legendary. They speak both with their voice and with their body. They are the quintessential “people” cat, for they love to be in your lap, on your bed, at your table--and in your heart!
Siamese have fascinated folks around the world since they were first officially exported from Thailand, or as it was known then Siam, in the late eighteen hundreds. Their sleek lines, striking color contrast, finely chiseled aristocratic heads, deep blue almond eyes, and short silky coats make them living art. Combine this beauty with acute intelligence, inquisitive personality and a loving nature and you have the essence of the Siamese cat.
The first Siamese to appear in Englandwere a gift from Siam to an ambassador who brought them home. They began appearing in English cat shows almost immediately, and in American shows by the early twentieth century.
