Colby and Cameron are a sweet pair of Doxie boys who sadly, need a new home.  They are very attached to each other and must be adopted together.    Cameron was orginally adopted from PRBJ when he was a puppy and unfortunately the family is struggling financially and having some other issues and must find these sweet boys a new home.

LEASH MANNERS  - Colby is excited about his walks and does pull on the leash and might pull harder when he sees something interesting. Cameron walks gently on the leash.

SOCIALIZATION  - Cameron and Colby have only been around each other and a couple of smaller dogs, which they did fine with. They do not have any experience being around large dogs.  There is a toddler in the home and they have done very well with him since birth.  Cameron gets a little nervous now that the toddler moves all over, whereas Colby it does not bother at all.  They both bark at people until the people are in the house for a little while. Outside, they will bark at others until they get closer and pet them.

ENERGY LEVEL  AND EXERCISE - We only leash walk them to go potty, but they have visited to a home where they could run free in a fenced yard, and they loved it.  They would enjoy running and playing in a fenced yard.

DAILY STRUCTURE AND SCHEDULE - They eat Purina One Smart Blend dog food as suggested by their vet, mixed with water to help them eat
slower.  They eat at about 7 am and 6 pm daily.  They get walks
several times a day because they have small bladders, and usually
have a bowel movment in the morning and in the evening.

They do not like being alone too much, so crate or a gated spot is best so they feel safer.  I would not leave them to roam freely as they get very nervous being alone. Someone who is home much of the day with them would be ideal. Due to the currently family situtation, they have be alone a lot more than they would like.

CONFIDENCE LEVEL  -  Both Cameron and Colby love to snuggle up against you wherever you are sitting or lying down.  Cameron especially loves to give lots of wet kisses.

They get nervous going to the vet.  Cameron loves the car. Colby gets nervous in the car.  They both did great with our toddler and baby.

Once they feel comfortable at the groomer or around anyone, they usually end up on your lap,

PERSONALITY  Cameron and Colbyare both very lovable dogs that love to be near someone at all times.  If they are not with a human, they are
sleeping on each other.  They love when people are home with them.

They both get nervous being left alone. They also do not like loud noises or walking in the rain.

They have both slept with a family member them.  Colby likes to burrow in a blanket in his crate where Cameron sleeps under the covers in your bed.

IDEAL HOME   - If you are looking for two cuddle bug, little boys, look no further than Cameron and Colby, they are ready to apply for the job!

According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Dachshund (pronounced dak sund) originated in Germany many hundreds of years ago. "Dachs" is the word for badger. The Dachshund was bred to hunt and follow these animals to earth, gradually becoming highly evolved, with shortened legs to dig the prey out and go down inside the burrows. Smaller Dachshunds where bred to hunt hare and stoat. Dachshunds have many "terrier" characteristics. They are versatile and courageous dogs and have been known to take on foxes and otters, besides badgers. Lively and affectionate; proud and bold, almost rash. Tenacious. Can be willful and clownish. Curious and mischievous, they are very clever and may attempt to train the owner rather than allow the opposite. Devoted to his family, some fanciers feel the long-haired variety is calmer than the other two types. The wire-haired variety is more outgoing and clown-like. All are slightly difficult to train. Dachshunds are good dogs to travel with. They are best with older, considerate children and are moderately protective. These little dogs like to bark (their barks are surprisingly loud for their size) and are compulsive diggers. They are generally okay with other pets, however, they can be jealous, irritable, obstinate and very quick to bite. Sometimes they will refuse to be handled. They should not be over fed, for this breed tends to gain weight quickly. They have a life expectancy of 12-15 years.
