Winter was found as a stray and was surrendered to PRBJ.  He is very sweet and gentle.  A beautiful dog.  The person who found him said that he is housetrained and DOES NOT LIKE CATS.

Winter had the chance to be part of our Dog 4 a Day program.  Make sure to take a peek at the video she took of him as well as the pictures.  Here is what the wonderful lady who took him had to say:

Hi Judy or team Pet rescue by Judy,

I had Winter for a few hours last Friday. He was such a good boy.   In the side room at the facility, he was affectionate and enjoyed being petted. He was curious about what was happening outside the room, and would prop himself up the window took look outside of it.   He liked the car ride home. He enjoyed looking all around while we were driving from the back seat. He both sat and stood off and on. He barked a couple times in the car when looking out the window.

When going for a walk around the neighborhood, or getting into/out of car, he was initially excited and tugging the leash. However, when walking, he got better with guidance and wasn't tugging. He seems like a quick learner.

In the house, he was good. Liked to walk all around and smell everything, and walk out onto the back patio. He barked a few times, outside or in house once. He was mostly quiet though.  When I ate lunch, he sat near at first but didn't bark. He then rested while I ate. He didn't try to go up the stairs till we were leaving, but when i said 'no,' he complied quickly.    He knows 'sit' and 'shake' and worked for pets and treats.

Throughout the day, he appeared to enjoy the company and looked happy and content. He has an eagerness and a bit of strength that needs some guidance when walking. Overall, he appears to be a smart boy and very happy and sweet.

I enjoyed my time with him. He is also photogenic, and one time sat up when resting to get his picture taken. I thought he was striking a pose, like a movie star!

Samoyeds' friendly disposition makes them poor guard dogs; an aggressive Samoyed is rare. With their tendency to bark, however, they can be diligent watch dogs, barking whenever something approaches their territory. Samoyeds are excellent companions, especially for small children or even other dogs, and they remain playful into old age. When Samoyeds become bored, they may begin to dig. With their  sled dog  heritage, a Samoyed is not averse to pulling things, and an untrained Samoyed has no problem pulling its owner on a leash rather than walking alongside. Samoyeds were also used to herd reindeer. They will instinctively act as herd dogs, and when playing with children, especially, will often attempt to turn and move them in a different direction. The breed is characterized by an alert and happy expression which has earned the nicknames "Sammie smile" and "smiley dog." The Samoyed is a breed of dog that takes its name from the Samoyedic peoples of Siberia. These nomadic reindeer herders bred the fluffy white dogs to help with the herding, and to pull sleds when they moved. [4]
