1/6/2016: Hazel went out for dog for a day and here is what they had to say:
12/29/2015: Hazel has been doing so good on her walks. We also cat tested her today and she was great with our cats. So if you have cats she is fine. Plus houstrained, no food aggression and great with kids...
LEASH MANNERS: Hazel needs a little help at first with her leash. She gets so excited to go out that she will pull at first, once she calms down she walks great.SOCIALIZATION: Hazel is great with people and dogs, because of her excitability it is best she be with older children and adults. She loves playing in the dog park with a tremendous amount of energy so if you have an active lifestyle Hazel is the dog for you.
CONFIDENCE LEVEL: Hazel is a confident dog who has shown herself not to be shy.
TRAINING: Hazel would benefit with basic obedience training. She is housetrained and crate trained. She needs a strong pack leader.
PERSONALITY: Hazel has the best personality. She is only 9 months old and very young at heart in her grown up body. She loves when people come to her kennel and want to take her out, she gets very excited and when she knows she is going to run. She will lick you and sit by you when things calm down. Hazel will never refuse a walk.
Hazel is a people pleaser and for her young age and large body she is adorable to watch as she plays and runs.
IDEAL HOME: An ideal home for Hazel would be one with a nice size fenced in yard and owners/foster with an active lifestyle.
11/05/2015: Update on Hazel:
She is amazing. Loves to go outside and play and run. A fenced in backyard would benefit her. Loves other dogs and people. Hazel is definitly housetrained and is also very good with all our volunteers who come in to walk her. Please look at all her new updated photos so you can see how beautiful she is.
Nancy aka Hazel was owner surrendered to Judy. They adopted her when she was just a few months old. Unfortunately, their son has recently been having severe allergies to her. They told us she is housetrained and crate trained. Sh loves to cuddle is happy and playful, she will jump on you out of excitement. She walks well on a leash and likes to dig. She is considered still a puppy, so don't let her size confuse you. She loves to run and play in the yard, so a yard with a fence would be great.
This beautiful girl would love to meet you!
According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Clumber Spaniel is described as a gentle, sweet, quite intelligent and pleasant dog. Among the most low-key and easygoing of the hunting breeds. They are very affectionate and playful. Well-behaved, and not very active when mature. Clumbers will get along with other dogs and cats as well as other household animals if they are raised with them. If they sense the owners are meek, or passive they can become a bit willful. Clumbers are usually trustworthy with children of the family. Socialize them well the help them adjust to making friends with strangers. This breed is a gentle person's dog; they do not take well to heavy-handed discipline. They simply will not respond to it, but they do need a firm, but calm, confident owner who knows how to communicate the rules. This dog has a good memory and it likes to do things to please its master, therefore training is not usually difficult. Clumber spaniels can be used as hunting dogs. They prefer to hunt for pheasant and partridges, take naturally to retrieving, and are good water dogs. Make sure you have good chew toys for them to chew. Watch the Clumber's diet carefully as it tends to gain weight very easily.
