Description:
This sweet little puppy girl was found outside alone as a stray.  She is the sweetest puppy.  When she was brought in to us she sat in our laps and loved the attention she got.  She enjoyed watching our other dogs walk around and play.  She will make a great addition to some lucky family.

Foster Update 5/5/15:
Makayla has a very sweet and playful temperament. She is a little shy at first, especially around men, but after a little while she warms up. At around 30lbs, she is the perfect big dog personality in a smaller package. Makayla and my 50 lb bully mix play together all day long.  When they aren't playing she will lay around and chew on her nylabone.  She definitely needs chew toys to keep her busy. She did get a hold of a pair of flip flops and give them a good chewing, so I keep all shoes in the closets. Makayla understands the word 'no' and will sit if you give her the verbal command and hold one hand up, although she will think about it for a few seconds. She has been staying in her crate at night and when we are away from the house. She eats twice a day (Diamond Naturals lamb and rice brand --cheapest from Tractor Supply Store).  Makayla has a lot of puppy energy but is surprisingly calm.  She would be a welcome addition to any household.

***According to dogbreedinfo.com, in April 1899, Capt. Max von Stephanitz registered a dog named Horan as the first Deutsche Schäferhunde, which means German Shepherd Dog in English. Known for their tremendous loyalty and courage, they are calmly confident, but not hostile. This breed needs his people and should not be left isolated for long periods of time. They only bark when it is necessary. Serious and almost human in his intelligence, they have a high learning ability. The breed is so intelligent and learns so readily that it has been used as a sheepdog, guard dog, in police work, as a guide for the blind, in search and rescue service, and in the military. The German Shepherd also excels in many other dog activities including schutzhund, tracking, obedience, agility, flyball, and ring sport. His fine nose can sniff out drugs and intruders, and can alert handlers to the presence of underground mines in time to avoid detonation, or gas leaks in a pipes buried 15 feet underground. A quick daily brushing is best unless hair in the house is not a problem. They should be bathed rarely, only once or twice a year to avoid skin oil depletion. Shepherds have a life expectancy around 13 years.
