Description:
Theodore was brought to us by a wonderful lady from GA. He is very sweet but shy. He needs a loving owner willing to be patient with him. He does love belly rubs though! Won't you give this beautiful boy a forever home??

Foster Update 2/27/14:

Theodore (Teddy) is very sweet and gets along great with other dogs, people, and cats.  He went to a dog park with 3 other dogs and had a great time.  Even though one Chihuahua was aggressive at times, Teddy never lost his temper.  When we introduced him to our cat he remained calm.

He has had a couple accidents inside, but he is still a puppy and learning quickly.  He walks well on a leash, never pulls and is very affectionate.  Teddy will be very loyal and loving to whoever invites him into their home.

Appearance: Black with a white patch on his chest, brown eyes, 30 inches tall from paw to head, approximately 40 pounds.

Energy level: Teddy has moderate energy. He enjoys going for walks outside, but also likes to relax.  For a young dog, he is very mellow.

Food: Teddy gets fed twice daily, once in the morning and then in the evening. He receives 1 cup each serving of dry food.

Adaptability: Teddy will adapt quickly to any new environment.  As long as it is a loving home, he will do great.

Behaviors: Teddy is very well behaved for such a young dog.  He doesn’t seem to be a chewer, although we haven’t left him unattended out of the crate.  He is very quiet except when we put him in the crate, he gets sad and whines for a few minutes.

Human Social Skills: Teddy loves people and is very friendly.

Animal Social Skills: Teddy is still a puppy and does not show any signs of aggression or hostile behavior.  He is calm and submissive around other dogs. When we introduced him to our cat he remained calm.  Also, on walks he does not chase squirrels and birds.

Obedience: Teddy is a puppy and needs to be trained.  However, he is definitely an intelligent dog.

Training: Teddy is partially housetrained and needs to go outside often as he is young and is still learning.  He doesn’t seem to mind being in a crate.

Personality: Teddy is a very mature young dog, so it is easy to forget that he is still under a year old.  He enjoys playing with toys, but mostly he craves love.  He is very loyal and will follow you around the house.

Ideal Home: Teddy is mellow and will be able to adjust to most situations.  He is still young so he will still need a good amount of attention and training.

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
