Description: Eddi Munster is a one year old Black Lab. OK, it's a weird name (what else is new) but Michelle said when she first looked at him, honest to goodness he looked just like Eddie Munster. Personally, I think Michelle needs a little more sleep and a little less coffee, but, whatever. When I first met this little guy, he was so scared I couldn't get near him with the camera. I had to take photos of him out in the yard with my zoom lens. Poor little guy! Judy is so smart though. You know what she is doing? She is letting Eddie run around the kennel area while the other dogs are confined just to build up his self-confidence. He is already doing so much better. And Judy is so good with these dogs. You can see the photo of her hugging him in the crate that he was hiding in. He is doing so well, so much better. Really, it is a miracle these dogs bounce back as well as they do when you realize everything they have been through!
6/10 Foster Update: OK, this is why I adore our fosters. I am going to share this update from Lisa so that you will understand the heart of our fosters and the trauma of some of our pets. Maybe some people will be turned off from Eddie because of this, but I know that it will touch the heart of someone else who will recognize a dog who has been through "something" and is struggling to come out of it. How blessed we are by Lisa. So many people only want to foster or adopt the perfect dog. She understands that the ones who need us the most are the ones who need the most work. Read below what she has accomplished in just 5 days and tell me if you aren't touched! "Hi Holly, Yeah it was so sad the first day he was so scared! He immediately went to the bathroom in the house then I put him outside and he wouldn't come in. I had to trick him by walking around the house and closing the door after he had crept in. Then when he saw that I was in the house he went to run out and ran into the sliding glass door! The next day I put a treat down for him to eat, then I held a few away from my body, then I started bringing them closer and closer and he kept taking them as long as I had my head turned. That night I pet him a little through the cage and now its been a week and he will walk up to me to let me pet him. He still feels most comfortable if I don't approach him but he will approach me. It used to be every time I walked around he would run to his cage but last night I noticed that he wasn't doing that. He loves my dog! I really think he needs to be in a home with another dog because he still trusts him more than he trusts me. I brought him to my office this weekend without my dog and he just hid under the desk the whole time. The other thing that someone who adopts him needs to be aware of is that he is in his chewy phase right now...so they just need to make sure they keep an eye on him when he isn't crated. He is also pretty good with my cat....in the house he doesn't even seem to notice him walking around but this morning when they were outside he did chase him (I think that will die down with time)."
6/23 Foster Update: "Everything is going great...he has decided that he is a big boy and doesn't need to go in the crate...i tried everything, bungies, tape, zip ties, and it just got to the point that i was afraid he was going to hurt himself while squeezing out....he does pretty well out of the crate, he broke a couple of ceramic pots (I think he was trying to chew the leaves and the pots fell over) and he likes shoes, but as long as i keep everything picked up he does fine...i bought a lot of toys for him to play with so I think that keeps him pretty occupied...he doesn't go to the bathroom until i get home...he has had a couple of accidents in the house (shortly after coming in from outside too...so I'm not quite ready to say he is fully potty trained)."
Foster update 11/24: Sorry this has taken me so long I took the pictures a long time ago but keep forgetting to send them. Eddie has come a long way since I met him. He still takes a little while to warm up to people but after he does
