Nani was surrendered by her owner because they could no longer afford to care for her. Below is a descriptions Nani owners sent:

Here is what Nani's foster family has to say about her:

• Appearance Nani’s a smaller dog, about 23 lbs, white with brindle colored patches on her body and mostly black on her head.  She’s got these huge soulful eyes and everyone who meets her falls instantly in love.  The and droopy ear just add character, and the lack of vision due to cataract in her left eye does not slow her down at all she just prefers to have me walk on her right so she can see what I’m doing.

• Energy Level Nani is a nice mix of playful but mostly laid back.  She doesn’t require a ton of exercise yet she keeps up well during our 2 daily walks – we go at a fairly steady pace for about 20 minutes.  We go early in the morning and later at night when it’s cooler out since her breed can get overheated. As soon as she starts to pant we slow down to a stroll and head for home so she doesn’t overheat. Every so often though she’ll take off running thru the house or the back yard in a puppy like burst of enthusiasm but after 5-10 minutes of play she’s most happy heading for a soft spot to relax.

• Food Nani eats twice a day – once in the morning about 7am – and again in the evening about 6pm.  I mix 1 cup of dry food with some warm water and a tablespoon of wet food for flavor – let sit to absorb the water about 5 minutes and she gobbles it up. She’s currently eating Ol’Roy Pure Balance Chicken & Brown Rice dry food and Boots & Barkley wet food – her breed needs to have a high quality food..

• Adaptability Nani fit into the household almost instantly. She was never exposed to cats before but has never expressed any aggression towards mine.  Within 3 days she was given free roam of the house during the day while I’m at work and even on days where she’s alone for over 10 hrs she’s not had an accident or chewed anything she shouldn’t.  Personally I think she just spends the day sleeping in her favorite spot – a blanket on the sofa! At night she seems to prefer to sleep in her crate if I don’t let her on the bed – it seems to make her feel “safe”.

• Behaviors Nani really doesn’t have any bad behaviours and she’s completely housebroken. The only thing she started doing once she became comfortable here was digging shallow holes in the yard to “hide her bone” but since the hole is maybe an inch deep not much is “hidden”.  Her favorite place to be is next to me on the sofa.

• Human Social Skills Nani loves everyone and her entire body starts to wiggle as they get closer, that includes people, dogs or cats. She runs up to greet everyone and loves to sit in peoples laps while the scratch her backside, under her chin and rub her belly.

• Animal Social Skills She was never around cats until the past month, so she was a bit afraid at first, then she became curious about their different smells. After a bit she started getting into a playful crouch near them and just doesn’t understand why they don’t respond in a playful manner.  They’ve swatted her a time or two when they felt she got a little too playful and she’s never tried to hurt them – she just leaves them alone when that happens.

• Obedience & Training She knows sit, stay, go potty and while she knows the word “come” she will hesitate at times to be sure I really mean it before she responds. We’re working on that J

• Personality Quirks Nani’s entire body wriggles when she’s happy.  When she’s walking towards me it’s as if she’s so happy to see me she can’t contain herself. She’s been saving a treat for several days and frequently walks thru the house making small whining sounds while she looks for the “perfect” hiding spot for it.  One day it’s in the folds of her dog bed, the next she moves it into a corner behind a chair. Then she rubs the area around it with the sides of her nose…but no matter where it ends up tonight, tomorrow it’ll need a new spot!

• Ideal Home Anyone who adopts Nani will be one lucky owner but it really needs to be someone familiar with the French Bulldog breeds needs, issues and care requirements. She needs daily maintenance to clean her ears and tail area yet those 5 minutes of effort will be rewarded a thousand times by her personality - she’s playful, sweet, loving and a great snuggler. She should go to a home as the only dog as she likes to be the only super star in her home! Although she can go to a home with cats as she does well with them!

Medical Background: Nani needs an owner whom understands this breed. She requires regularly bathing and is prone to skin infections/ issues if her owner does not keep up with her heathy.Nani needs to be on a hypoallegenic diet which will help her skin/coat in great shape. Nani has a premature cataract in one eye.

Below is a bit about the breed:
The French Bulldog is a pleasant, easy-care companion who is  playful, alert and affectionate. It is enthusiastic and lively, without being  yappy and loud. Curious, sweet and absolutely hilarious, it has a very comical  personality and loves to clown around. It is bright and easygoing. The Frenchie  gets along fairly well with strangers and other animals and enjoys being with ts owner. It plays well with other dogs. Those Frenchies that are allowed to  believe they are alpha may become dog aggressive. This breed needs leadership
and will not thrive without it. French Bulldogs are clean, and most will try to avoid puddles. Most cannot swim
so take caution around water. This breed does best with considerate children.
Frenchies are good for apartment life. They can be fairly active indoors and will do okay without a yard. They do not do well in temperature extremes.

French Bulldogs are prone torespiratory problems. They tend to wheeze and snore and have trouble in hot
weather. Prone to heatstroke. An overweight Frenchie may have trouble breathing, because of a swollen abdomen. Do not overfeed this breed.
French Bulldogs are high maintenance and potential owners need to be aware that  their vet bills may be high.
